PORTIA RUFFIN MOORE Mrs. Portia Ruffin Moore, 77 of Freeman Road, Durham County, died Wednesday, October 21 at Duke hospital. Funeral services were held Sunday^ October 25, at St. Joseph A. M. E. Church. The Rev. Melvin C. Swahn, pastor, pre sided. Burial was held in Beech- wood cemetery. The deceased was a native of Hillsboro. She was born March 8, 1882, and the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Boyd. Her survivors include her hus band, two sisters and one brother, five grandchildren and eighty great grandchildren, Scarborough handled the arrangements. ARTHUR GREEN Funeral services for Arthur Green, 63. of 20-S Sima street, were held Tuesday afternoon, Oct. 27, at the Amey Funeral Home Chapel. Green di6d at Veterans hospital in iDurham ofl Friday, Oct. 23. He was 63. A native of Columbia, S. C., and son of the late Mrs. Allie Green, he is Survived by his wife, Mrs. Johnsie Green, of Durham; two sons: Theodore D., of the Air Force at San Antonio, Tex.; and James A. Green, of Durham. Miles Mark Fisher in a dou ble ring ritual. The bride is the daughter oi Mr. and Mrs. L. Haywood Jenkins and Mr. McAllister is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Benjamin S. McAl lister, all of Durham. Wedding music was presented by Mrs. Margaret Goodwin, solo ist, and Mr. John H. Gattis, organ ist. The altar was beautifully deco rated with a background of palms and ferns, and vases of white pom pons, gladioli and chrysanthe mums with candelabra holding lighted white tapers. A satin cov ered prayer bench completed the setting. Given in marriage by her fath er, the bride wore a waltz length gown of white silk organza and Chantilly lace with a circular neck line. Her circular veil was at- atched to a white headpiece of leathers and pearls, and She car ried a bndai bouquet of sweei heart roses centered witii a purple oichid. Mrs. Aliie J. Greeii, sister of the bride, was matron of honor, and brides maid were Mrs. Deloys Bolden, and Mrs. Dorothy M. Mew- born, sister of the groom, all of Durham. The matron of honor wore a blue ballerina length dress of silk organza and matching head piece and shoes. She carried a bouquet of pink “mums” with pink streamers. The bridesmaids wore coral dresses of velvet with matching shoes and headpieces. They carried bouquets of pink “mums” with'streamers. Howard C. McAllister (cousin of the groom) served as best man, and ushers were James G. Thomp son, Joseph S. Parker, Juliui Dav is, Jr., and Nathan White all of Durham. The mother of the bride wore a street length blue lace dress with navy accessories and a cor sage of pink roses.
