Pettiford, licked the losing jinx that has been pleaguing them all season by defeating the C. S. brown High eleven 16-14. The Beavers kick off to the visitors and forced them to punt after three downs. Then the team work that has been stressed so much in the Beaver practice ses sions this week paid off as the blue and gold team put on a drive from their own thirty-five yard stripe which culminated with full back Freddie Spruill driving over for the first counter of the game. Then Spruill bulled his way over for the extra points making the score 8-0. The visitors took advantage of a series of miscues that cost the Beavers penalities and tallied on a sustained drive to knot the count at 8 all as the half ended. During the third period, the visitors again took the initiative and foraged ahead of the home- standing.
