The public is cprdially invit ed to join the college family in their efforts to memorialize a relentless public servant. ^ DETROIT — A decarte Of ex perimenting in community serv ice projects was proposed to MO Negro women thought leaders, at the 40th convention of Alpha j Kappa Alpha sorority here, i Saturday, as a ineans of find ing the most effective role for - a sisterhood of college gradu-; ates. I The proposal was included in; the report of a year long self- study that also directed attenion to the growing Black Muslim movement that originated in Detroit in 1930; the non-violent approach to ; greater freedom for Negroes and the significance of the John Birch societies. New study of the impact of urbaniza tion and technological advances upon Negroes was also urged. Approval of the proposals was expected in a secret ballot to be announced Sunday. The study was carried out by a special commission headed by Itfrs Beulah Whitby of Detroit, chairman of the departnusnt of sociology at Mercy College, aad a former president of AKA Dr Cyril O Houle and Dr Alexandetv Liveright ot Chicago assisted in the design of the study. The findings wto analyz ed by Dr Nan McGee, a uni versity of Illinois psychologist.
