Civil Riglits Set
NORFOLK, Va. — Civil
rights leaders from over the
South will gather here April
26 and 27 for u conference on
“Time for Action in the, Mid-
South.’ I
Purpose of the confere^^e is
to stimulate action leading to
equal rights for all citizens and
to provide information on which
people may act. There will be
workshops on job opportunities,
housing, voting, civil liberites,
public facilities, and education.
The conference will open
Friday night, April 26, with a
keynote session in the auditor
ium of Norfolk Division, Vir
ginia State College, on Corprew
Avenue. The workshops will be
held all the next day at the col
lege.
Keynote speaker will be the
Rev. C. T. Vivian, Chattanooga,
a leader in tha Tensessee Vot
ers Council and a noted expon
ent of non-violent direct action.

Rev. C. E. Griffin, pastor of
First Calvary Baptist Church
here.
Presiding will be Dr. Her

Relations Institute at Fisk Uni
