These sentiments were'* te- flecUd in a seven-page evalua tion of the clinic released thta week' by Janies ^H. Knight, chairman of the Summer Coun seling Clinic Committee. Much of. Knight's evaluaifon' was based on rcpliea to a thlrtceu- item questionnaire by 52 of the 60 students attending the clinic. Held as an exploratory a-- tlvlty in 1963, the one-day clinic was designed to provide incom-' iiig freshman and other new stu i dents with information which would facilitate their making: amooth adjustments to collcgs life. Knight and six other facui- ty persons discivsscd curriculum programs, expenaes^ campus Ufa j^and other features Of the col lege with the . students, x Representing 13 North Caro lina communities, the 60 stu dents attending were among a limited number from nearl)y communitiea invited to partlci- IMtg in 4he pilot cUiDi«. lMt»* ktuiSent I aOB^r* Iti thequtttiotuudre, ^ Xnlght aaM the student consensus was that the clinic was worth any sacri- ficea they made to attend it. All studenta indicated, he said, that the information provided by facul t y members anticipated que»tioas they had in theii minda. “They definitely recommend that a similar clinic be held for entering freahmen next summer, and they would encourage en tering freahmen to attend,” hr said. Despite the fact that most stu dents felt tha'i one or two motll ficatlons, such as a guided tour of the campus, would enhance future clinics, “as a consequence of attending the clinic, practical ly all of the students felt that they will lie more at ease when they enter college in Sptember," Knight said. 3 LOCATIONS^ For Yow Sheppiag.
