The couple was attended by a bridal party of thirty. The attend ants entered the church to the strains of Beazley's, "The King of Love My Shepherd Is." The bride, escorted by her father, came down the aisle on the Bridal Chorus from Lohengrim by Wagner, sung by thirteen voices with John H. Gattis at the organ. The double-ring ceremony was performed by the Rever end Lorenio A. Lynch, Pastor of the White . Rock Baptist Church. A reception at the Washington Duke Ball Roojn for more than five-hundrtd guests followed the wedding ceremony. The bride, given in marriage by her father, John Harding Lucas, Principal of Hillside High School, wore a princess skimmer of peau de soie with beaded lace accenting the cap sleeves and scoop neckline. The skirt and back panel of her A line gown were appliqued and edged in lace. He detachable watteau chapel train featured a scalloped lace border. The honor attendant wore a full length empire A-line gown in apricot chiffon. The bodice, with accordian pleated elbow sleeves, was accented at the waistline by orange ice satin, with a flat bow and streamers at the center back. The brides maids wore copies of the hon ot attendant's gown. The maid of honor was Diana Briscoe of Memphis, Tennessee. Other attendants were Angela R. Bryant, Rocky Mount; Pa tricia A. Colson, Oxford; Doris Dillard, Los Angeles, Califor nia; Florietta Gilreath, Oxford; Janice Brewer, Regina George, Sylvia Smith, Sylvia Sloan, Cynthia Smith, Carolyn Walk- er, and Eileen Watts of Dur ham. Richard Hughes of Detroit, Michigan was best man. Hie other groomsmen were John H. Lucas, Jr., brother of the bride; Herbert S. Taylor, Floyd W. Mitchell. Lou R. Beatty, Gerald P. Henry, Buford Kelgler and Gentry B. Cabbil also of De troit, Michigan; Benjamin Lew is, Jr. of Richmond, Virginia; William Bostic, Chattanooga, Tennessee; and Jan Stanback of Durham. The couple, formerly attend ing Fisk University in Nash ville, Tennessee, are now stu dents at Wayne State Univer sity and Michigan State Univer sity. They will make their home in Detroit, Michigan, where the groom is President of Cobp Associates, Inc. Local Dental Society Well Represented At Dental Meeting: The Alexander Hunter Den tal Society is being well repre sented at the National Dental Association which convenes in Los Angeles, California, July 29-August 3. Those members of the Alex ander Hunter Dental Society are: Dr. J. M. Hubbard, past President of the Society; Dr. N. H. Cordice, Secretary; Dr. J. A Campbell, Program Director; Dr. E. P. Norris, Treasurer; Mesdames N. H. Cordice and and E. P. Norris, Auxiliary members, will accompany their husbands. About 600 dentists and some physicians will meet in Los Angeles, California from all parts of the United States. Durham Social Happenings By MRS. VIRGINIA ALSTON DIAL 594-4*29 YOUNG WOMAN OF THE WEEK Miss Doris Elaine Schooler, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. M. Schooler, has been selected "Young Lady of the Week." While in Durham she was an active member of the White Rock Baptist Church where she was a Sunday School secretary and a member of the Junior Choir. She also was affiliated with the Girl Scouts, the Youth Wants to Know Forum (serving as president). She was a mem ber of various organizations at Hillside High School from which she graduated with vale dictory honors in the class of 1961. She then entered Fisk Uni versity in Nashville, Tennessee, where she majored in mathe matics. As a college student, Ooris was active in many phases of campus life, parti pating in such organizations as the Drama Club, the Mathe matics . Club, the Dormitory Council,' Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, and Beta Kappa Chi National Scientific Society. During the summer of 1964 she was selected to attend a Mathematics Institute in New York City under the auspices of the National Council of Ne gro Women. Upon graduating, cum. laude, from Fisk in June 1963, our honoree was employed by the International Business Machine Corporation in Poughkeepsie, New York. Ruffin and family have returned to their post in South Dakota after spending their vacation with parents, Mrs. Catherine Ruffin and Mrs. Rosa Daniel of this city. • • • TO ATTEND SON'S GRADUATION Mrs. Rosa Downey Daniel, 2318 Fayetteville Street, the widow of the late G. W. Daniel, left Thursday, July 27, for Washington, D. C., to attend the graduation of her son, G. H. Daniel, from IBM School. Upon leaving Washington, she will go to Norfolk, Va. to, visit her step-daughter, Mr. and Mrs. G. Whitehurst. She will return home July 31. • • • REUNION VISITORS REMAIN FOR FEW DAYS IN CITY Some of the out-of-town members of the Manley family, here for the Family Reunion, remained for a few days and were entertained by the in to wn family and some friends. General Manley and son, Raymond Manley; Mr. and Mrs. Otis Manley and daughter, Miss Lucille; Mrs. Lucille Manley Clarke and friend, Mrs. Glor veen Dowdy; Mr. and Mr*. Richard Jones and young grandson Carol Lee Jones, and Master Ralph Sanabria, were all dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Willie Manley and Mr. and Mrs. Charles Joyner. Mr. and Mrs. Carl Easterling kept open house, and Mrs. Elnora Smith served dinner to the group and some friends on her beautiful lawn. Alm Mr. and Mrs. C. C. Then, with reluctant part ings, the visitors left for their home in New York City, Wash ington and New Jersey. » • • VISIT NEW YORK AND PUERTO RICO Mrs. Carolene P. Griffin, ac companied by her daughter, Karen, and nephew, Clinton Shearin, Jr., spent a week in Brooklyn, New York, visiting her husband, Alfred. After hav ing much fun, the children then flew back to Durham while Mr. and Mrs. Griffin jet ted to Puerto Rico and spent a marvelous week at the Americana of San Juan, San Juan, Puerto Rico. VISITING IN CITY Mrs. Claudette Williams of Washington, D. C. is in the city visiting relatives and friends. She is the house guest of Mrs. Maggie Henry, #lO Lin wood Avenue. * • • VACATIONS IN D. C. Mr. and Mrs. Qunius Came ron and Ralph Colley have re turned to the city after vaca tioning in Washington, D. C., visiting friends and relatives. They were house yuest of Mr. and Mrs. John Houston.
