Highlights of the Youth Pro pam were as follows: Sunday morning worship service at St. Joseph's A.M.E. Church, July 30. Reverend Philip R. Cousin, pastor, preached and music was rendered by the Senior Choir. At 6 p.m. on the same day the girls attended the Mass Meeting with the Adult body in the Washington Duke Room. Dr. Rose Butler Browne, re tired professor of North Caro lina College was the .keynote speaker. Music was rendered by the Saint Mark A.M.E. Zion Church Choir under the direc ti on of Earnest Massen burg. A reception in the Uni versity Ball Room followed. On Monday, July 31, the first general business session was held in the Wedgewood Room with June Williams, Durham, presiding. CARLTON Final Rites Held For Sunday For Mrs. E. Carlton The funeral of Mrs. Elnora Gattis Carlton was held at North East Baptist Church on the Apex Highway, Saturday, August 5, at 1:00 p.m. Mrs. Gattis, who resided on Route 3 in Durham, died at her home Wednesday, August 2, following a long illness. Prior to her illness, she became an active member of the North East Baptist Church. Her hus hand, Chares Emmett Carlton died several years ago.
