College'! dreams of an unde tected grd campaign were shattered here Saturday when •he Allen University yellow iacketa handed the visiting Eagles a 27-12 setback. Allen jumped to an early lead in the first period and Homecoming Plans Ready at A&T State Univ. GREENSBORO A&T State University has completed plans for one of the most impressive Homecoming weekends ever staged by the Institution. "We are going all out to make this the best Homecom ing ever," said chairman Dr. James Pendergrast. Although th e A&T-Mary j land State football game on Saturday, October 14 will high- | light the four-day celebratibn, j a number of other activities have been planned for visiting alumni. Events will get underway Thursday, October 12, at 8:00 p.m. when Miss Pat Mobley of Greensboro will be crowned "Miss A&T" in Charles Moore Gymnasium on the campus. The annual pep rally and bonfire will be staged Friday evening on the University's practice football field. The Alumni Breakfast will be held Saturday at 6 a.m. in the newly-opened Red Carpet Room, plush dining facility. A Homecoming parade, com plete with more than a mile of floats, marching bands and campus beauties will get un derway at 10 a.m. Saturday. A pre-game show featuring the A&T 140-piece Marching Ag gies will be held at 1 p.m., half an hour prior to the football game. The annual Homecoming Ball is scheduled for Saturday at 8 p.m. in Moore Gymnasium. The concluding activity will be the annual alumni Worship Serv ice in the Richard Harrison Au ditorium on Sunday, October 15, at 11 a.m. The Rev. (Special) Grambling College seemed almost intent on suicide with costly mis takes in the second half Saturday night, but still launched its saason successfully on a pair of early touchdowns to defeat Alcorn A&M, 13-7. It was not the kind of conquest that caused dancing in the street as both teams were ragged and rarely demonstrated the potential to explode: Alcorn scored 101 points in wal loping Paul Quirtn in its initial start, but the Tiger shut off their offense when it counted, forced mistakes, and proved that a simi lar holocaust could not happen against a more formidable foe. led all the way in completely dominating the intersectional contest. Defensive standouts for Al len were Tony Russell, Hank Dixon, Jim Wiggins, Jim Spencer, Bob Phillips, Carlton Taylor, Erine Perkins, Frank Webster, Billy Nixon, Ralph Wiliams, McAuthur Gray and Bobby Gray.
