Helton, will present its Annual Women's Day ser vices Sunday, May 25 at 11:00 a.m., 3:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. respectively. Rev. Mrs. Mary D. Wfcymon of Tryon will be the guest minister at the 11:00 a.m. ser vice. Rev. Waynon is pastoring Russell Tabernacle and Forest Chapel CME Churches of Spin dale. She attended public schools in Spartanburg, South Carolina and Bible School in Philadelphia, Penn. Rev. 'Vay 'ion is the mother of famous Nina Si'none, vocalist, pianist and composer of international fame. Nannie Leonard Ste wart of the Mt. Mrs. Stewart received her BS Degree from State College, '•Vinston-Salem, M.A. Degree North Carolina College at Dur lam and has done further stu dy at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and Columbia University at New York City. Mrs. Stewart has taught Union Christian Bible Institute To Give 2 Honorary Degrees Two men will receive honor ary degrees from Union Chris tian Bible Institute during com mencement exercises May 25th. The two men are Rev. P. R. Cousin, the commencement speaker, and Rev. J. W. Barnes, Senior advisor and treasurer of the Institute. Rev. Cousin is the pastor of the St. Joseph A.M.E., Church, Chaiman of the Durham Human Relation Committee and Chairman of the Political Committee of the Durham Committee on Negro Affairs. Rev. Barnes is the pastor of the . Terrell Creek Baptist Church, President of the Union of the New Hope Association, a social studies instructor at Hillside High School. He has also served on the faculty of the Institute for the past four years without gratuities. Aside from his role as treasurer, in structor, student advisor, he has sided in guiding the school over the turbulent waters of disaster, to the shores of pro mise and hope. The Institute will also award academic certificates of theology to four persons: Rev. High School, College Day to Be Observed The annual High School and College Day will be observed at the West Durham Baptist Church, Sunday, May 25 at both the morning and evening services. Presentations will be made to each of the graduates. The following persons are grad uating: Brenda Hopkins, Adrian Neely, Margie Diane Harrington, Marilyn Blake and William Starns, Hillside High School; Sheila Gunn and Marshall Thaxton, Durham High School; Eleanor Maccene Brown, Miss Hall School, Pitts field, Mass.; Theodore Free land and Eleanor Starnes, North Carolina College. Bell, 209 Weaver St., received the Bachelor of The ology Degree on May 10, from the Baltimore College of the Bible and Seminary, Baltimore, Maryland. Rev. Bell has made outstanding achievements with his training in theology and church building. He received his education in the public schools of Durham and attended Durham Business College and Durham Technical Institute. Rev. Bell is married to the former Miss Louise Chavis of Durham. Fire Damages j Raleigh Firm 1 The extend of damage caused by a fire at Stoutt's Electrical Construction and Maintenance Inc. at 1001 E. Whitaker Mill Road here had not been! estimated Tuesday. The fire, which was discovered by police about 11:10 p.m. Monday, burned through a rear wall. Firemen kept the blaze confined to the rear of the building. The cause of the fire had not been determined. Pres ently, she is Supervisor of Title V-A, Guidance, Counsel ing, and Testing in the State Department. This is the first year that Women's Day has been ob served in the evening. Music will be furnished by Women's Chorus of the church. The program has been planned by the Women's Day Committee, consisting of Mrs. L. H. Smith, Chairman, and Mrs. E. E. Green, Co-Chairman.
