10A —THE CAROLINA TIMES SATURDAY, JUNE 28, 1969 NEW CAREERS PROJECT OPENED IN WAKE COUNTY FOR EIGHTY POOR RALEIGH—Eigh f v poor and unemployed adults in Wake County, North Carolina will get a chance to enter new careers, it was announced this week by Secretary of Labor George P. Shultz. The workers will be employed aa aides to professionals in edu cation, recreation, social serv ice, and community relations, under the U. S. Department of Labor's New Careers program. Federal funds totaling $230,- 130 have been set aside for the project with the project's Wake County Opportunities, Inc. of Raleigh providing an addition al $57,060. New Careers seeks to relieve critical national shortages of professional service personnel in health, education, and pub lic welfare by opening up jobs with built-in advancement op portunities to unemployed adults.
