The bridgegroom is the son

opened with devotions led by
Mrs. Rosa Johnson. The presi
dent, Mrs. Belvin Mitchell, pre
sided. Due to the absence of
the secretary, the minutes were
omitted. Reports were made by
various committees and ac
cepted. Mrs. Mitchell and Mrs.
Bullock thanked the group for
their cooperation in working
hard to make the program a
success.
The group sends Happy Birth
day to the members whose
birthday was in June. Only
one was present, Mrs. Rebecca
Hoskin who was presented a
gift.
The hostess, Mrs. Alma Wal
lace, assisted by her daughter,
Mrs. Rachell Carlton, served a
wonderful repast. They were
thnaked by Mrs. Ellene Bron

the Better Homes and Gardens
Club met at the home of Mrs.
Beaulah Hill, 521 Burlington
Ave.' After the meeting was
called to order, the devotional
period began with a song, "I
Come To The Garden," led by
Mrs. Francis Watson. A prayer
was repeated in unison. After
devotions, we were invited in
the dining room of Mrs. Hill's
lovely new home and enjoyed
a delicious dinner.
During our business sesjion,
the president, Mrs. Louise Jen
kins, expressed her gratitude
to the club for the flowers and
all the kindness shown her
during her illness. All former
officers were retained, but we
decided that each member
would preside at one meeting
during the year. Mrs. Francis
Watson is to represent the club
at a Crises in Retirement work
shop. Mrs. Mary Taylor thanked
the hostess for her fine hospi
tality. We were dismissed to
meet again in September. Mrs.
Carrie Vereen and Mrs. Cath
erine Page will be our dele
gates to the Convention. Mem
bers present were Mrs. Louise
Jenkins, Mrs. Francis Watson,

bride is the daughter of Mrs.
Gloria Williams of 1710 Riddle
Road.
Rev. L. M. Gooch performed
the double ring ceremony. Leon
Cole was organist.
The bride wore a white a-line
peau de soie gown, accented
with tear drop pearls and crys
tals with detachable train. She
carried a white satin prayer
book with a white orchid, and
ivy leaves with pink rose buds.
Miss Carol Thorpe was her
maid of honor. Bridesmaids
were LaWanda Saddler, Phyllis
Thomas, Parepa McCrea, Judy
Spears, Rosa Jenkins and Cyn
thia Manuel of Durham. They
wore a-line empire satin gowns
with a velvet bow at the waist
and matching bow on the
veils. The bridesmaids gowns
were lavender, and the maid
of-honor's was pink. They car
ried mums with lavender and
pink bows.
