I LAST RITES HELD FOR AARON JACKSON ON SAT. Last rites were held at Mt. Calvary United Church of Christ Saturday, February 21, 3:00 p.m. for Aaron Jackson, the Rev. 3. W. Morrison, offi ciating. Mr. Jackson, the son of the late John and Idcll Jackson was born September 22, 1915 in Florence, South Carolina and departed this life, Saturday morning, Februaryl4. He was united in holy matri mony to the former Miss Alease Greene of Greenville, South Carolina, to this union two sons, Edward and Daniel Jackson, were born. Shortly after coming to Dur ham, Jackson affiliated him self with Mount Calvary United Church of Christ (formerly Mt. Calvary Christian Church) where he served as a deacon for over thirty years. The deceased has served the Mount Calvary United Church in various offices mainly as chairman of the Deacon Board and founder of the Male Chorus. Survivors include: his two sons, SFC Edward Jackson of Viet Nam and Daniel Jackson of Durham; two daughters-in law; eleven grandchildren: one brother, Reverend Daniel Jack son of Washington, D. C.; three sisters, Mrs. Utensil Stevenson of Florence, S. C.; Mrs. Mary Samuel and Mrs. Roxie Greene of Timmonsville, S. C. and other relatives. Fulton County Sheriff Leroy Stynchcombe said an anony mous telephone caller warned a deputy that, "King is going to be killed and half the trig ger money has been put up." LAST RITES HELD FOR FREDDIE LEE BROOKS MORRISVILLE Last rites were held Tuesday, February 24, 4:00 P.M. at Shiloh Baptist Church, Morrisville for Fred die Lee Brooks, the Reverend L. E. Walls, leader of the A.M.E. Zion delegation, announced that' 10 persons had been named to represent the deno mination, when the 9 churches to merge into one body, meets in St. Louis, Mo., March 9-13. Eu banks Tucker, Louisville will serve as chaplain for the representative of the 25 mil lion protestant members that envisioned for the suggested Church of Christ Uniting. The nine denominations in volved are the Episcopal, United Methodist, Christian (Disciples), United Presbyterian and Presbyterian (Southern) churches, the United Churches of Christ and three mainly Ne gro churches - the African Methodist Episcopal, African Methodist Episcopal Zion and Christian Methodist Episcopal. The plan specifies that a Negro be named as the first presiding bishop of the new church and that the church specifically bar race discrimina tion in any form. The church would be com mitted to "struggle with racism, poverty, environment, war and the problems of the family of man, minister to the deep yearning of the human spirit for fullness in life and provide fpr the common use of the re sources and gifts" of many Christian traditions. It would provide for stvong lay influ ence in its councils. The 150-page olan of union, drawn up by a special drafting commission, said the aim was not just a "mechanical mer ger," but formationsof a dyna mic unifying body seeking the ultimate "unity of the whole church."
