blems. The extensive investi
gation will be the basis of a re
port turned in to National
headquarters in New York.
Margison stated "I am sorry
I will not be able to attend
the Board of Directors meeting
in Winston-Salem next Sunday
but I want to see everyone
connected with the chapter
before returning to New
York."

Honor's Day Speaker April 22

win T. Turner, an English
scholar and well-known au
thor, will be th« keynote
speaker for the annual ob
servance of Honors Day at
Albany (Ga.) State College on
Thursday, April 22.
The annual Honors Day
Program, which is held in San
ford Hall Auditorium, is the
occasion for saluting those stu
dents who have achieved suc
cess academically during the
school year.
Dr. Charles K. Dunson,
head of the department of
mathematics at Albany State,
is chairman of the Honors Day
Committee. According to him,
some 300 Albany State stu
dents will be singled out for
academic honors and achieve
ment on this special program.
Dr. Turner, A Phi Beta
Kappa graduate of the Univer
sity of Cincinnati where he
received the B. A. degree in
English, is currently a profes
sor of English on the Univer
sity of Michigan faculty.
Prior to accepting that post in
1970, he was professor of
English and Dean of the Grad
uate School at North Carolina
A. &T. State University.
Turner, an author of several
books, earned the M.A. degree
at the University of Cin
cinnati where his thesis was
Negro American Prose Fiction
Writers of the Twentieth Cen
tury. His Ph.D. degree in Eng
lish was conferred by the Uni
versity of Chicago in 1956.

fellowship in the North Caro
lina-Duke Universities Co-op
erative Program for research
in Afro-American Literature.
He has also held a study
grant in 3965, for the Ameri
can Council of Learned Socie
ties for research in the writ
ings of Jean Toomer.
