The Community League of Mill Grove held its regular meeting Monday night June 7, at 8:00 o'clock at Mount Level Baptist Church with the Today's Scene At Hillside By MICHELLE DEJARMON In everyones life, there is a time to laugh and a time t> cry. This past week has been a time for both. There have been tears of joy and tears of sadness. The tears of joy came Tues day evening, .line Bth, 1971, when the seniors received their diplomas. There were 363 stu dents in the graduating class and everyone of them deserves some kind of recognition. The valedictoriam of the Class of '7l was Miss Edwina Link and the salutatorians were Misses Sally Tanford and Veronica Ray. Tears of sad ness came when some of the students realized that they wouldn't be roaming the halls of the Homets Nest next year arid there would be some of their best friends left behind. Since Tuesday, June Bth, 1971, many teen-agers have been doing many things. Many have been looking for jobs and others have been going to summer school. There are a few that have just been resting. For many students, finding a job has been difficult. Many have found that good dress and nice manners open that difficult door. Instead of some teens taking one step and getting pushed back ten, with these two factors that one step is helping them on their way to opening that door. If you know someone who has been turned down for a job have them look at themselves. This year has been an ex citing one for me. I enjoyed 'writing articles for Hillside in Hie Carolina Times. During this year and years before the president, Mrs. Roumania Lips comb presiding and the assist ant secretary Mrs. Syminer Daye. MISS DeJARMON correspondents for HHS had special help when it was needed. Mr. Louis E. Austin and Mr. Lodius Austin were al ways there. Saturday, June 12, 1971, Mr. Louis Austin, founder of The Carolina Times succumbed at Lincoln Hospi tal. The members of Hillside, students and graduates, are in ' a daze almost. Mr. Austin was a man of great character and he always gave people the in centive to go further than your aiccessful goal. His motto and his ideas are some that will never die and anyone who hasn't heard some of his sound advice surely missed something in their life time. The students and graduates send their condolences to the Louis E. Austin family and may God grant you peace in your hour of bereavement. We the members, (past and present), of Hillside do thank God for having known such a well gifted man but to the ones that didn't, you missed one in ten billion.
