Bombs did more than SIOO,OOO damage to the world's longest atom smasher Tuesday, offi cials at the Stanford Linear Ac celerator reported. Two explosions ripped the west end of the two-mile-long accelerator shortly before 8:30 a.m. when workmen discovered the damage, officials said. The sll4 million accelerator is located in isolated, grassy foothills wfst of the Stanford University campus. No one was injured, there was no fire and no radiation leak, university officials said. Stanford operates the accelera tor for the Atomic Energy Commission. Nearby residents reported hearing explosions between 7:10 and 8 a.m. It was the first reported vio lence at Stanford since terror ists bombed university Presi dent Richard Lyman's office last April, said information offi cer Bob Beyers University officials said they had no idea who bombed the atom smasher or why.
