J., at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, June 10, 1972 at Holy Cross Church. Mrs. Er nest Price was organist and Miss Julia Spearman was soloist The bride is the daughter and stepdaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Leonidas Robin son of 1809 Pritchard Place. Parents of the bridegroom are Mr. and Mrs. Paul Reginald Jervay of Raleigh. Given in marriage by her stepfather, the bride wore a gown of a sata peau with bo dice of Venise lace. Her veil was attached to a Camelot headpiece of matching lace and seed pearls. She carried yellow sweetheart roses, white car nations and fuji chrysanthem ums. Honor attendants were Miss Brendalyn A. The mother from left to right represents her family. Seated, mesdames—Ronald Pa tterson, John Amey, Oliver Hodge, John Roseboro and Charles Joyner. Standing, Lloyd Piersawl, Henry Brooks, S.L. Jordan and Robert Young. The traditional setting for the ceremony included a table draped with white to symbo lize purity with (13) thirteen apple green candles which sym bolize the high ideals for which the organization stands: (1) Loyalty (2) Devotion (3) Truth (4) Faith (5) Love (6) Understanding (7) Hope (8) Friendliness (9) Integrity (10) sin of the bride, and Mrs. Al bert T. Eubanks, sister of th? bride. Attendants were Miss Barbara A. Patterson and Miss Hazel L. Easteriing, cousins of the bride, Miss Yvette T. Robin son, sister of the bride, and Mrs. Henry G. Monroe, sister of the bridegroom. They wore nylon sheer gowns trimmed with Venise lace. Jerome Crawford was best man. Ushers were Calvin D. Dalrymple Jr., Gifred Sowell, James E. Hall and Richard L. Robinson, Jr., brother of the bride. Children in the wedding were Charlene Hughes and James T. Council. A reception was held at Craftsman's Lounge. The bride and bridegroom are graduates of North Caro lina Central University. They will live in Raleigh, where the bridegroom is circulation man ager of Carolinian Newspaper. Each new family was pre sented a certificate, an I.D. card, a corsage of white car nations with green ribbons, and a package containing club information. Each member present par ticipated in making the evening a success by giving explanations of the club's motto, Karrousel, Travel-On, purposes and other important club activities. The guest speaker was Mrs. Hazel Bridge of Durham who deliver ed an inspiring Woman's Day address. Mrs. Bridges used as her topic "A Vision in the Glory of God" which was en joyed by all. The Junior La dies presented SIOO with Mrs. Cora Jones presiding. A total of $1,194.84 was raised at the very successful evening. Rev. Later, is expected to uphold the by laws, high ideals, to abide by the Constitution of the organi zation and to always contri bute to its progress to the fullest extent by cooperating in every respect. The Delta Chapter was happy to have the Sneed fa mily to reunite with them after a series of traveling ex periences and two additions to the family. The activities climaxed with a fellowship and social hour. VISIT FRIEND Miss Sarah Cameron of 903 Carroll Street spent the week end in Kinston, N.C. visiting friends and relatives. Wray of 121 Masondale Avenue attended the Boys Club of America Con vention in Washington, the fourth through the seventh of June at the Washington Hil ton Hotel. Representatives from all over the country attended. Two special high lights were the performance by the Lorton Reformitory of Virginia, inmates who drama tized "Inner Voices," and the Lincoln Boys Choir of Lincoln Nebraska. CHI ETA PHI SORORITY ELECTS NEW OFFICERS At the last official meeting for 1971-1972 Chi Eta Phi Sorority, a professional nurses sorority, elected the following officers for 1972-74: President Janet Beasley; Vice President, Joan Martin; Recording Sec retary, Ruby Borden; Corre sponding Secretary, Pearlie Jyles; Treasurer, Lyda Betts; Parlimentarian, Sylvia Richard son; Sgt. at Arms, Lelia Miller; Chaplain, Evelyn Dudley; Phi laeter, Lula Harris; Dean of Pledgees, Evelyn Wicker; and Historian, Debbie Jyles. Officers of Pi Chapter were installed by Soror Helen S. Millar, National President. The meeting was hosted by Soror Richardson at 2901 Apex Road Final plans were made for representation of Pi Chapter at the forthcoming national meeting to convene in Los Angeles, California and the following sorors »re to serve as delegates: Sorors Betts, Coleman, Beasley, Harris, and Richardson. Friendly Club TTie Friendly Ladies Club held its regular monthly meet ing Sunday, June 4 at 4 p.m. at the home of Mrs. Beatrice Dunlap, 814 Corona Street. The meeting opened with a song led by Mrs. Hastie Price. Prayer by Agnes Hinton. Mrs. Price presided over the meet ing. Reports from the various committies were made. Brown Enlists Alfred Aster Brown, son of Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Sinclair Brown of 411 Dunstan Street, Durham, N.C., has enlisted in the U.S. Navy, under the Navy's new 180-day program. This program authorizes the Navy to enlist qualified young men and give them up to 180 days delay in reporting for active duty. NANNIE JONES BIBLE CLASS MEETS The Nannie Jones Bible Class of Fisher's Memorial United Holy Church met Sunday, June 11, 1972 at 4:00 p.m. at the home of Sister Doris Smith on Baker Street in Durham. The meeting was called to order by Mother Mable Cooke, who presided. Sister Sarah Roberts led the group in an inspirational prayer. Sister Margaret W. Smith reviewed the minutes. The group com pleted plans for a picnic to be held on July 1, 1972, at Daniel Boone Railroad. The hostess served refresh ments consisting of Spanish peanuts, assorted mints, and strawberry shortcake. Mem bers present were Sisters Le nora Royster, Lessie Wilson, Margaret Smith, Mary Ann Daniels, Sally Roberts, Sarah Roberts, and Doris Smith. MUGS POPULAR Oversized mugs that can serve as soup bowls, oversize plates and jumbo goblets are pop ular in tableware this spring and summer. Mem bers began gathering at 7:IS and were greeted by Beanie Bullock and Mia. Evelyn Hart Clements, boat and hoetew tor the occasion. The welcome waa given by Bennie Bullock and during the only quiet moments of the evening, grace was ghren by their former agriculture teacher, Mr. J. L. Mofflt, Sr. A moat delicious buffet dinner waa en joyed by all. Next in order waa the in troduction of former teachers. Celebrating the occasion with the class were Mrs. J. C. Locust, Mrs. E. Tuck, Mrs. L. Hooker, Mrs. Violet P. Rogers, Mrs. Ervin Johnson, Mr. J. L. Mo fflt, Sr. and the former prin cipal, Mr. C. B. Nixon. Admist a setting of pink carnations and flickering can dles, the class now settled down and were receptive of moat inspiring words from their class president, Mr. Lafayette Jones, followed by encourage ments from their former prin cipal, Mr. C. B. Nixon and each teacher. Mr. Ervin John son, our speaker for the even ing, spoke of the many opp ortunities that have been afford ed Blacks over the last decade. He admonished each member to take full advantage of these opportunities as it is moat vital that we all become involved if we are to be able to carry our fair share of the load in the society of today. After all was said and done the group enjoyed several hours of dancing. Although the tempo waa slightly slower, everyone joined in and danced the night away.
