Menial Heal Ass'n Produces Major Film , WASHINGTON - The world premiere of a new film JOURNEY, will be staged at the 1973 Annual Meeting of the National Association for Mental Health, said Mrs.J. Skelly Wright, NAMH President, recently. The meeting is scheduled for November 13-16, at Atlanta's Regency Hyatt House. ' " Third in a projected series of twenty films JOURNEY represents NAMHs most current effort to help dispel the stigma surrounding mental illness and the mentally in. According to Mrs. Wright, "We can no longer permit myths, misconceptions, and prejudices to stand in the way. of a person's willingness to seek help for emotional problems. I "Just as concentrated public i education campaigns succeeded in eliminating the embarrassment and stigma attached to other health problems, ' Mrs. Wright added. "we hope to be able to remove the myths surrounding mental illness. Our new emphasis on mass appeal films is intended to help us reach as large an audience as possible, to help ensure that those needing help for emotional difficulties no longer need be afraid to seek that help." JOURNEY, which was made possible through a grant from Pfizer Laboratories Division, Pfizer, Inc., New York, deals with several major areas of concern including: the symptoms that may indicate a person has problems serious enough to require help; how one should respond or react to someone who is mentally ill; the specific causes of mental Illness; the basic fears that keep people from seeking help; and what that help is like.
