We certainly commend them for this generosity and hope that 1977 will be much better for many people. ' In addition to taking on families or children listed for some type of help we also.call attention to the Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Chapter for the annual "Golden Agers Party". Mariy favorable comments have been heard regarding this acti vity. The local chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority also spread much happiness and' joy to the senior citizens in the Pine Knoll Rest Home and Ellison's Nursing home. Such sharing is what the holiday season is all about. Mrs. L. M. Harris, Urn stead Street, was the hostess for a Christmas breakfast. Specia guests included Miss Jeanette Alston, Freedom Train Guide, and Mrs. Hazel Harvey, Brooklyn, N. Y. Miss Alston is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Alston Other guests enjoying' ilie hospitality were Mr. and Mrs. Guy Rankin. Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Hill, Mr. and Mrs. J. Henderson, held their annual neighbor hood children and youth party which, has been an event which brings even the former children youth and college crowd as well as the young marrieds and their families to share in the homecoming activities. The Satterficld-Davis Club of St. Joseph's A. M. E. Church entertained their guests at a lovely yuletide party at the home of Misses Lucille and May Baines, Alston Ave. Games and the exchange of Token Gifts were a part of the group activities. j The Club also provided a cash donation for a family of . 5 members. ' Mrs. Edna Tuck serves as president of the club. . 4 Mrs. Mable Powell served as the affable hostess for a pre New Year's Eve party. Guests included several members of her church choir group from St. Joseph's A. M. E. Church along with other special guests. A delightful time was enjoyed Mr. and Mrs. W. S. Crews. ' Jerome Road, were gracious hosts for a New Year's Day breakfast and open house for many of their friends. Color ful arrangements, along with table cloths, china and crystal, all with the Christinas motif, were set up throughout their home as the many guests partook of the buffet breakfast. Mariy of the guest then1 attended the (-mancipation Proclamation Day services at St. Mark A. M. E.-Zion Church: . Mrs. Annette liryant. Old Well Street, celebrated the New Year with a West Indian Motif when she entertained several guests on New Year's night. Guests were treated to Calypso music via informative records.. Special narration was given by Ben Fairweathcr, West Indian entrepreneur about the theme of each record. Some guests received pictures of Mland scenes. Exotic foods, common to the Islands, were served by the hostess. Of special delight was the slide showing of a visit to Barbados by Mrs. S. H. Morgan and her family. Mrs. Billie Mebane of New York is the house guest of her aunt, Miss Geneva Mebane of 512 Dunbar Street. The 'New5 Hope Audubon Society invites immediate applications from qualified individuals of 18 years of age or older to attend an Audubon -One-Week Summer Workshop in; Connecticut in 1977. A scholarship of $250, covering tuition, room and board (SI 50 plus $100) towards travel expenses (latter on comple tion of course) is offered to an adult resident of Durham. Order of the Golden Circle, was elected Loyal Lady of the Year. She is a member of the Prospect Chapter 379, Order of the Eastern Star and Zafa Court 41, Daughters of Isis. She is a member of White Rock Baptist Church where she serves in the Senior Choir, Deaconess Board, President of the Tempie Whitted Bible Class and member of College View District. She is the organizer of the Spiritual Golden Tones of University Assembly 218. Mrs. Moore is a life member of the Y W C. A.
