A It Representatives of St. Augustine's College met in Atlanta, Georgia on Friday, August 12, to meet with offi cials of the Bush Foundation of St. Paul, Minnesota, to share tactics geared to in creasing alumni gift support under the challenge grant. From St. Augustine's were James Burt, Coordinator of Alumni Affairs, Lawrence Wray, chairman, Alumni Annual Giving and Purdie Anders, Vice President for Development. The Challenge Grant of $49,000 to St. Augustine's is dependent upon two fac tors: first, increased total dollars contributed in the 1977-78 academic year com pared with 1976-77 (with Bush to match the Increase dollar-for-dollar, up to a predetermined level); and second, a net increase over the preceding year in the number of unrestricted, in dividual gifts from alumni. St. Augustine's College can boast a substantial num ber of alumni now in the public eye, making major contributions to the states and country at large. The impetus provided by the Bush Foundation Challenge Grant should help alumni gifts to become a major source of institutional support over a period of years. St. Augustine's can expect to receive support from the Foundation for a period of two to five years, ceasing when the matching incentives no longer seem able to stimulate significant growth in alumni contributions. 1 1- Save l76 Denim necessity: boys' flare jean. 3 88 Regularly 5.44 Meet the oc'caaion'm pohrr1 cotton comfort.
