WEDDING COMING UP,..
Rep. Shirery Chisholm of Brooklyn has revealed plans to
get married during the Thanksgiving holidays to Arthur Hard
wick, Jr., of Buffalor, an architectural designer. She and Con
rad Chisholm, her husband of 28 years, were divorced in
February.
GARDENERS ATTEND FGC CONVENTION
Many gardeners from throughout the state attended the
convention of the Federal of Garden Clubs of North
Carolina held at St. James Inn, Fayetteville, August 7-9.
Among the interesting places visited on a tour during the
convention were: Fort Bragg, Fayetteville State University of
the City of Fayetteville's Rose Garden which contains many
beautiful rose bushes donated by Jackson Perkins Company.

- Amphitheno will present the Summer Drama Workshop in
Lorraine Hansberry s What Use Are t lowers: , August 21
8 p.m;at the Edison Johnson Recrettoh Center.
t The play is about a hermit who returns to the world to find
a group of children the only survivors of an unexplained holo
caust. The children an worse than wild animals, and he tries to
teach the; basics pf civilization before he diesJhe hermit is
played by Roosevelt Wiggins, a junior drama major, at NCCU.
The children are played by Eugene Clarke, Kazu Clarke. Mei
mei Garke, Allen Copelandi Michael Curtis, Jeff Fyeneman,
David Seritifit, and Gil Reason.' " ?
.The play is directed by Samuel Green, Jr.

The Ever Ready Club of the Orange Grove Baptist Church
went on a delightful trip to Ocean View Beach near Norfolk.
Va., with their friends recently.

BISHOP FAMILY REUNION The Annual Bishop Family reunion was held at
New Hopewell Baptist Church, Darlington County, South Carolina,
August 6. The reunion was well attended by relatives from several states. Mrs.
Gladys Bishop Jones and Mrs. Katherine Bishop Page of Durham, helped In or
ganizing this annual event. The Bishops traced their 'family history back to the
i early 1800's when Frank Bishop, the family founder, helped organize the Hopewell
