The Durham Chapter of the Lincoln Alumni hosted over two
hundred nurses and their families at the Royal Villa Convention
Center during the .montH of August. The theme for the reunion
was "Love Will Keep Us Together". Nurses from all over the
United States were present. Ther?, were representatives from as
early as the class of 1925 and as repent as 1971 which was the last
class. -
Again the Lincolnites continue to keep the spirit of Lincoln
alive since the closure of, the nursing school, in 1971 and the;
hospital in 1976. Two other-chapters exist other than in Durham.
They are located in Washington, D. C. arid New York.
Highlights of the two-day reunion. included registration and
cocktail hour, on Friday; a business meetings a, splash party and an
evening banquet and ball filled' the Saturday agenda. Mrs. L. Z.
Williams was honored at the banquet by a unique presentation of1
roses for every year that she served as Director of Nurses during
the viability of the Lincoln School of Nursing. That was from
1945-1971. Can you imagine what a bonqiet that made! Events
were concluded with a farewell coffee hoiirbn Sunday morning.
Many thanks are extended to Mrs. Lois Thorpe, chairperson
of the reunion committee, and the committee members who were
