10 - THE CAROLINA TIMES SAT., JANUARY 6, 1979 (Clubs and Socials GAREDEN CLUB HAS CHRISTMAS BREAKFAST Mrs. Hazel Rich, Mrs. Harrite Miller, Little Miss Joan Rich and Mrnes CArter hosted the West Durham Blossom Garden Club's annual Christmas breakfast Wednesday, December 27 at 9:30 am, at the home of Mrs. Rich at 2910 Kanewood Drive. The living room of the home was beautifully decorated with a Christmas tree that contained oraments made by 1 Mn. Rich and Jon. During the morning, conversation and games were enjoyed and Mrs. Daisy Gunn, acting as Santa Claus, presented gifts to club members, revealing club sisters and to. all visitors. A presentation was made by the president to those who hosted this gala fathering thanking them for their kind thoughtfubess. A delectable breakfast was served buffet style to guests: Mr. and Mrs. Robert Sanabria of New York; Mr. and Mr. Lee E. Jones, Mrs. Gwendolyn Bynum of Weldon; Mrs. Mattie Canty, Mrs. Elizabeth Tate, Mrs. Margaret Hedge- Kth, Mn. Josie Powell, Mn. Ellen Coley, Mn. Alberta mpass, Misses Elizabeth Sellen, Cathy Miller; Messrs. Benjamin McClary, William Fuller, William Mc Broom, Henry Gunn, John Plummer, James Fuller of Conn., and Darnell Malloy. Club memben present were : Mrs. Mary McClary, Mrs. Alease Bynum, Mn. Georgia Taylor, Mn. Margaret Allen, Mn. Gertrude Gibson, Mn. Mary Horton, Mrs. Mary Allison, Mn. Margaret Fuller, Mn. Daisy Gunn, Mn. -Naomi Parker, Misses Ruth and Mary Louise Stephens and Burch Coley. . HOLIDAY GUESTS Mr. and Mn. Robert Sanabria of New York were the houseguests of her sister, Mn. Mattie Ruth Canty of Moreiana Avenue during the holidays. FLORIDA VACATIONERS Mn. Magdalen . Llewellyn of Durham and sister, Mn. Phenia Latewell oiWhiteville, and friends, Ms. . Juanita Shird spent the Christmas holidays in Miami, Fort Lauderdale, Tampa and Orlando, Florida visiting Velatives and friends and picking oranges, tangerines, and grapefruit. They report a very enjoyable vacation. CHRISTMAS SOCIAL The Senior Choir of First Calvary Baptist Church on Morehead Avenue held its annual Christmas social in the Fellowship Hall of the church on Thursday njght, December 28. During the evening, carols were sung and Mn. Hallie Crews gave readings. Presentations were made to the president, Wallace, Hin ton, and the organist, Miss M.L. Stephens. v DURHAM COUPLE CELEBRATES GOLDEN WEDDING ANNIVERSARY Mr. and Mn. Elmo A. Mangum, Sr. of 2211 Dallas St., celebrated their fiftieth wedding anniversary on Tuesday, December 26 at J J. Henderson Towers at toe residence of Mn. Martha Stanley, sister of Mn. Mangum. "- Rev. J.C. Cheek, pastor of Mount Calvary United Church of Chint, officiated during the renewal of the marriage vows. Mn. Mangum wore a floor length, green chiffon gown, attired with gold assecssories and a corsage of white carna tions. The many guests include the couple's two daughters,. Mn. Delores Costella Allen,, of Henrietta , N.Y., and Mn. Carolyn Jean Hicks, of East Orange, NJ. The sons, Elmo A. King were host and hostess to the Corona' Street Community Club at their home on Chalmers Street for the chib's annual Christmas dinner December 15. The home was beautifully decorated; Mrs. Annie Lee. served as toastmistress and led the singing of Christmas' carols. Rev. Willie McMillon gave the grace. A delicious din ner with the trimmings was served. After dinner, gifts were given to "Secret Pals" and the invited guests, Games were played and prizes were given to winners.
