' MISSIONARY DEPARTMENT TO Observe
ANNIVERSARY
The Missionary Department of Mount Calvary
United Church of Christ,' 1715 Athens St., will observe
their Anniversary, Sunday, July 22 at 4 p.m. Rev. Ruth
Day, of the First Congregational United Church of
Christ, will be the guest speaker. Music will be rendered
by the Male Chorus of Mount Calvary.
ORDINATION SET FOR MRS. GRADY
Ordination services for Mrs. Nancy R. Grady are set for
Lakeview Baptist Church, Dearborn Road, Sunday, Ju
ly 22 at 6 p.m. Rev. Enoch, Moderator of the New
Home in Durham Association will preside with Rev.
Clifton Bullock, pastor of Lakeview delivering the ser
mon. The Gospel Choir of Lakeview will render the
music.
Mrs. Grady will be the first lady to be ordained in the
New Home in Durham Association.
She is a native of Columbus, Ohio, having attended
Franklin University and Ohio State University. She was
a member of Maynard Avenue Baptist Church, where
Jier father, Rev. R. L. Clark was the pastor. She served
on the Deaconess Board and was President of the
Young Adult Outreach Group. She was also a member
of the League of Women Voters; President, Concerned
Citizens, Liason for Licking County School Board; and
Recording Treasurer of the Child Guidance League.
Mrs. Grady is employed in the Technical Support
Division of Northern Telecom, Inc., Raleigh.
She is married to Ronald H. Grady, a building con
tractor. They are the parents of two daughters, Victoria
and Tandrea.
FIRST AID DEPARTMENT TO MEET
AT HENDERSON GROVE
The First Aid Department of the Durham Ushers
Union will meet Sunday, July 24 at Henderson Grove
Baptist Church. All members are urged to attend.
At the June 26 meeting at the home of Mrs. Mary
Bernett, Devotions were led by Mrs. Hestie Price.

DR. MOSELEY HAS 18TH ANNIVERSARY
Dr. A. D. Moseley, pastor, Mount Gilead Baptist
Church, will be honored on his 18th Anniversary, Sun
day, June 29.

Rev. Bernard A. Morrison will speak at the 8 a.m.
service at Mount Gilead Baptist Church, Sunday, July
22. The Junior Choir will sing.
At the 11 a.m. service, Dr. Earlie Thorpe will deliver
the message with singing by the Gospel Chorus and the
Male Chorus.
Rev. Robert G. Murray and his choir from West
Wood Baptist Church of Richmond, Va. will be the
guests at the 6 p.m. service.

Rev. V.E. Brown and Rev. Casinir K. Brown as they greeted the worshipers following
a worship service in which the Trapp-Brown Family Reunion members joined in wor
ship during their 7-1 Family Reunion.
The young men being greeted by Rev. V.E. Brown, Pastor of Gethesemane Baptist
Church are sons of Dr.-and Mrs. Eldee L. Brown. Standing to Rev. Brown's im
mediate left is (son no. 3) Rev. Casinir K. Brown, who earned his masters degree in
May at I.T.C., holds a pastorate in the Atlanta area and plans to continue his studies
at Emory University toward a Doctorate Degree in Sacred Scriptures. Being greeted
by Rev. Brown (is son no. 2) James Reuben who is a third year student of Chiroprac
tic in Chicago, III., where his father graduated with honors. To the right of James and
partly showing is their older son, Eldee Jr. who is a Morehouse graduate with a major
in Mathematics and is currently with IBM. To the extreme right is (son no. 5), Quin
ton Maxell, an honor student at NCCU who returned from Meharry Medical School's
Summer Program to join in the family reunion. Not shown is daughter, Claronell
Hope, a second year law student at Howard University and (son no. 4) Montee
O'Berry (deceased).

TO HOLD REVIVAL t
The Annual Revival will be held at Pine Grove Baptist
Church, Creedmoor, from Monday July 23 to Friday,
July 27 nightly beginning at 7:30 p.m. Rev. George A.
Jones, Pastor, Wake Baptist Church in Raleigh, will be
the evangelist for the week.
USHERS ANNIVERSARY AT MOUNT GILEAD
The Ushers Anniversary of Mount Gilead Baptist
Church will be observed Sunday, July 22 at 4 p.m. Mrs.
Willie Mae Webb will be speaking on the topic, The
Role of an Usher.

18TH ANNUAL SESSION OF PNBC TO BE
HELD AUG. 612
The 18th Annual Session of the Progressive National
Baptist Convencion (PNBC) will be held in New
Orleans, from Monday, August 6 through Sunday,
August 12. Convention Headquarters will be the Hyatt
Regency Hotel, with sessions of the convention and its
auxiliaries being held at the Municipal Auditorium and
other hotels.
This will mark the first time that Dr. William
Augustus Jones, Jr., militant new President of the
denomination, presides at an Annual Session. Dr.
Jones is Pastor of Bethany Baptist Church of Brooklyn,
New York, and is the youngest man ever elected to bead
a major national Baptfct convention.
The Progressive National Baptist Convention b the
fastest-growing body of Black Baptist in the nation.
Founded in 1961 at Cincinnati, Ohio, with only 23
delegates representing 22 churches in 12 states, the Con
vention has grown to almost one-million members,
representing 1,500 member-churches in 40 states. More
than 12,000 delegates, messengers, guests, observers
and visitors are expected to participate in this 18th An
nual Session.
The Convention's 1972 theme is: God's Power The
Dynamic that Delivers. Convention highlights include:
Pre-Convention Musical and Welcome Program at
Municipal Auditorium, 7:30 p.m., Monday, August 6;
President's Annual Address at Municipal Auditorium,
7:30 p.m., Thursday, August 9; and the Annual
"Freedom Night" at Municipal Auditorium, 7:30 p.m.,
Friday, August 10, when the Annual Martin Luther
King, Jr. Memorial Award will be presented to Mayor
Coleman Young of Detroit. The Freedom Night
speaker will be Dr. Lerone Bennett, Jr., Senior Editor
of Ebony Magazine and recognized as America's
leading authority on Afro-American history and pro
