14 THE UtOUXATUlES SAT., MUCNil.ltSO Mrs. C. V. Hauser Gets Life Membership At 85 VILLE "Happy birth day, Mama! Happy birth day Grandma! Happy bir thday Grannie! Happy birthday Mama Hauser! Happy birthday Miss Callie!" These words echoed through the Yadkinville Community Center on March 14 and 15 and through the Fellowship Hall of the Plesant Grove Baptist Church on the 16th when Mrs. Callie Vic toria Hauser of this city was honored on her 85th birthday anniversary by her thirteen children, 34 grand-children, seven great grand-children, and other relatives and' friends. The celebration began with a surprise on March 14, Mrs. Hauser's bir--thdate, when some forty senior citizens who par ticipate with her in a food program for the elderly shared family-provided sheet cake along with their meal and sang "Happy Birthday" to her. It ended with a reception following morning worship on Sun day. Mrs. Hauser is the widow of the late Rev. i Daniel Montgomery Hauser who died in 1965. She has spent all of her life in Yadkinville where she has been and is still active in the civic and religious life of the community. She has held offices in several organizations and has been honored as Church and NAACP Mother of the Year. The family group entered the community center on Saturday for a family celebration where each signed a birthday card as "We Are Family" by Sister Sledge resounded throughout the center. Following a buffet din ner, Ms. Rita C. Cannon, a granddaughter who originated and spearhead ed the idea of the party, presided over a formal program where numerous members of the family paid tribute to Mrs. Hauser. Among those paying tribute were: Rev. M.E. Walker of Charlotte, a former pastor; L. Reginald Hauser, a son; Jerald Callaway, a great grand son; Mrs. Mary Olena Paige, a daughter; and Ms. Donna J. Callaway, a granddaughter. Mrs. Hauser, a pert lady of small statue, ap peared especially delighted upon receiving two group i or family gifts a silver! service, and a life membership in the NAACP. Ms. Rita Can non, a granddaughter, presented the silver ser vice, and Dr. C. Brady Hauser, a son, presented the life membership. In presenting the life Continued on Page 15. Congratulations to the "Soldier Of The Week." Hundreds enjoyed "Expo 80" at the Cumberland County Arena on Saturday and Sunday past. It is stated that next to Christmas, Easter is the most important feast day in the Christian World. In America, the centerpiece on the festive board is usually a fragrant baked ham studded with cloves. You might want to stick with ham.
