CAROLINA TIMES - MS. BIENERT NEW CURATOR AT NCMLS Ms. Sharon Bienert of Gainesville, Florida has been selected as Animal Curator of the North Carolina Museum of Life and Science. Ms. Bienert has an associate degree in Zoological Parks Technology from Santa Fe Junior College in Gainesville, and is finishing requirements for a Bachelor of Science degree in Resource Con servation from the School of Forestry Resources at the University of Florida. She has been employed previously as a keeper in the Santa Fe teaching zoo in Gainesville where she designed the habitats for wolves and foxes and as Interim Director of the Tortuguero National Park in Costa Rica. Ms. Bienert also taught high school science in Costa Rica, served as a zoo consultant and as a guide and inter preter for Co Rentmeester who photographed the book, Central American Jungles of the Time-Life Series. According to Dr. William M. Sudduth, ex ecutive director of the North Carolina Museum of Life and Science, "Ms. Bienert will play an impor tant part in the accessment of animal care and facilities. We are for tunate to be able to attract someone of her caliber." When asked about her interest in the position and her priorities, Ms. Bienert said, "I am very excited about the potential of the museum and my first task is to review and to upgrade animal care, especially nutrition." Her duties will include supervising animal care, designing habitats, . and developing wildlife educa tion programs. IRS SETS TEST SPECIAL EXAMINATION GREENSBORO The Internal Revenue Service Special Enrollment Ex amination is scheduled for Monday and Tuesday, Oc tober 6 and 7, 1980. The annual test will be given in he Charlotte, Greensboro, and Raleigh IRS offices to qualified persons other than at torneys or Certified public accountants to represent clients before the IRS. Those interested in tak ing the examination should first obtain a copy of the free IRS Publica tion 486, "Requirements for Internal Revenue Ser vice Enrollment anc Special Enrollment Ex amination." This publica tion outlines the general requirements for enroll ment and identifies sources of tax information which are helpful in preparing for the ex amination. The examina tion will include true or false, multiple choice, and problem-type questions. If after reading Publica tion 486, applicants decide they want to take the ex amination, they should re quest a free IRS Special Enrollment Examination Materials packet. The packet includes Form 2587, "Application for 1980 Special Enrollment Examination;" Publica tion 486; Publication 693, "Special Enrollment Ex amination Questions and Answers;" Treasury Department Circular No. 230, "Regulations Gover ning the Practice of At torneys, Certified Public Accountants, Enrolled Agents, and Enrolled Ac tuaries before the Internal Revenue Service;" and a special order form for re questing study materials. Publication 486 and the Special Enrollment Ex amination Materials packet can be ordered by calling the IRS at 1-800-822-8800.
