TBS Evening News, an hour
of national and international
news, premieres Monday, July
21 at 10 p.m. on WTBS, the
Super Station from Atlanta.
Seven nights a week, The TBS
Evening News will give an
overview of the events of the
day.
It will be co-anchored Mon
day through Friday by Ann
Butler and David Allen
Jensen.
The weekend hosts will be
announced in the near future.
Kevin Christopher will be on
sports.
The Super Station's
newscast will draw on the
resources of the Cable News
Network (Turner Broad
casting System's new 24-hour

Jensen began his broadcasting
career in 1966 as a radio an
nouncer in his native Canada.
In 1970, Jensen moved to
western Europe, where he
became an immediate leading
personality on radio Luxem
bourg. His work there led to
several guest appearances and
then to permanent status on
the BBC in 1976. Since then,

Carol Kline Joins
Channel 8

TV Executive News Director
Jim Bennett announced the
hiring of Carol Kline as a.
reporter for TV 8 Eyewitness
News, effective June 2.
Ms. Kline is a graduate of
the University of Southern
California where she received
her Bachelor of Arts degree
magna cum laude. She is a
member of Phi Beta Kappa,
and received her masters in
Japanese Thought from Col
umbia University.
She pursued additional
studies at USC in broadcast
reporting and writing and
news production. Her most
recent assignment on the West
Coast was in producing
documentaries for KNXT
(CBS) in Los Angeles. She has
been a news anchor, producer
and editor both in California
and for five years with the
Japan Cable Television,
Tokyo. Ms. Kline is also the
author of two books.

Carol Kline join our news
team," commented Bennett.
"Her expertise and depth will
contribute to the strength of
our fine department and all of
us consider her a valuable ad
dition to our news efforts."
Her first series "O Promise
Me" aired on TV Eyewitness
News June 11-13 and was a
three-part look at marriage in
the North Carolina Piedmont
region. Ms. Kline joins the TV
Eyewitness News team

Ann Butler comes to WTBS
from Hartford, Conn., where
she hosted that city's edition
of P.M. Magazine. She began
her career in a training pro
gram at the Post-Newsweek
television outlet in
-Washington, D. C. Butler has
worked in Baltimore as a
television news director, and
her on-air work has earned her
several Emmy Awards.
Before joining The TBS
Evening News, sports anchor
Kevin Christopher pursued his
career as an actor-announcer
in New York. With literrally
dozens of televisio commer
cials and voice-overs to his
credit, Christopher has also
appeared in the national tours
of Broadway shows such as
"The Fantastics," and in sum
mer . stock productions in
cluding "Camelot," "Skin of
Our Teeth," and "Little
Murders." His extensive
sports background goes back
to his high school days, when
he lettered in football,
baseball and soccer. His con
tinued enthusiasm for and
understanding' of athletics,
together with his performing
background, make him a
natural in the field of sports
commentary.

Of Heaven
If by some quirk our dreams
could make changes in the
world around us, could we
create a Utopia? Public televi
sion's first made-for-televisioii
movie, The Lathe of Heaven,
an adaptation of Ursula. K. t
Guin's 1971 bfttsfBinf,
science fiction novel,
dramatizes the possibilities of
such a "blessing." The f2m .
returns to UNC-TV on Mon
day, July 21 at 8 p.m. on
Channel 4.
' George Orr, portrayed by
feruce Davison, is a man
plagued by his dreams.
Whenever he has an "effective
dream," it actually comes
true. Reality the past, pre
sent and future has been
directly affected when he
awakens. In an attempt to rid
.himself of this terrifying af- .
fliction, On begins therapy
with a dream analyst, Dr.
William Haber, played by
Kevin Conway.
Instead of seeking a cure for
his patient's unique problem.
Dr. Haber sees an opportunity
to rid society of the "evils"
that have brought it and he
world to the brink .of self
destruction. Placing Orr
under hypnosis, Haber forces
him to dream up a world that
is free of war, disease, racism
and over-population.
However, there are terrible,
unpredictable side-effects.
Requested by Haber to dream
away racism, Orr bterally
equalizes everyone, changing
skin, hair and eyes to a ghastly
and depressing shade of grey. '
Unsatisfied, the doctor
gradually becomes obsessed
with his power, over Orrs
dreams and. the search of

A scries of eye-boggling
special effects utilizing lasers
and computer graphic
enhances the sequence of
dreams created inside Orrs
mind. The dreams, which ac
count for most of the action
