About People
John Rockwell (r) didn't plan a mob scene. He just wanted to initiate his new restaurant, Rockwell's, in high
black tie style. What he got was a celebrity packed crowd of around 800, a block-and-a-half traffic jam and mass
claustrophobia. Said comic Jack Carter, surveying the mass of humanity, "It's just a few thousand of his close
friends. "Growled a crowded fellow guest, "He has too many friends." Rockwell greets (l-r) JoAnn Pflug with date.
Jack Haley, Jr., Leon Isaac with wife and TV sportscaster JaynffKennedy and Sammy Davis, Jr. UPI
