Happenings
By Mrs. T.H.Kinney
Many celebrated Thanksgiving at home in the kit
chen, around the dinner table, fireplace and TV. They
enjoyed games, good food, football, parades, and
maybe a blaze of Christmas lights. The shoppers didn't
miss the after Thanksgiving sales on Friday and Satur
day, either. Suddenly its time for us to begin a new holi
day celebration "It's Christmas Shopping Time".
Members of the Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity and their
guests celebrated their annual "Harvest Ball" at the
Lake View Country Club on Saturday night past.
The Kinneys enjoyed the company of Billy Miller,
Bronx, NY; Tony Miller of New York City and Al
Miller of Germany during the holiday. They are visiting
their North Carolina parents, other relives and
friends.
Mrs. Lorraine McLeod, president of the United
Order of Tents, will be the speaker at an evening

scheduled for 6 p.m.
The Cumberland County Agricultural Extension Ser
vice will hold a Christmas Open House from 2-5 p.m.,
on December 9. The event will feature handmade items,
food, clothing and crafts with free information on how
they are made. The public is invited and admission is
free.
The December session of the YMCA "Women of the
80's" series will deal with coping with stress.
