Pickard of Winston Salem, and Emmanuel Olufemi Keku, son of Reverend and Mrs. John Adeboye Keku of Keduna, Nigeria, West Africa, were married in a double ring ceremony Saturday, November 22, at 2 p.m., at Mount Pleasant Baptist Church in Winston Salem. Mrs. Harry E. Pickard is the former Miss, Shirley Mae Franklin of Chapel Hill. Mrs. Keku is also the granddaughter of Mrs. Amelia Franklin and the late James Franklin of Chapel Hill. The wedding was of ficiated by Rev. Henry S. Lewis, Jr., of Winston Salem, Rev. Benjamin F. Tandy and Dr. Robert A. Dyers, associate Dean of Wake Forest University, assisted Rev. Lewis. The gown was fashioned with a molded bodice and arch ed waistline which fell into a softly gathered skirt of layers of taffeta, organza and point d'esprit. It was trimmed with silk Venice lace. The skirt and train were Schiffli embroidered with sequins and seed pearls. She wore a mat ching chapel length veil of illusion, highlighted with Venice lace and Schiffli embroidered, attached to a half Juliet cap. She wore white, formal length gloves and carried a bou quet of white chrysan themums, roses and baby's breath. Mrs. Keku is an honor graduate and National Honor Society graduate of Bishop McGuinness Memorial High School. She is also a graduate of Wake Forest University where she was a National Achievement Scholar, Dean's List student, Hankins Scholar, member of the University Choir and freshman advisor. A master's degree candidate at the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill, Mrs. Keku was twice elected Alumni Fellow. She is a pension analyst for Booke and Company, an actuarial consulting firm in Winston-Salem. Mr. Keku is a graduate of Baptist High School in Jos, Nigeria, and a graduate with a G.C.E. degree from the Federal School of Science in Lagos, Nigeria. He is a graduate of Wake Forest University where he was a Hankins Scholar, presi dent of the International Club, and a member of the Wake Forest Universi ty soccer and track teams. He is also a graduate of the Wake Forest Universi ty graduate school with a master's degree in Biology, He is a member of the American Federa tion for Clinical Research. He is a research assistant tf the Bowman Gray School of Medicine at Wake Forest University and is an instructor at Winston-Salem State University. Maid of Honor was Miss Amelia D. Mr. and Mrs. Raymond McAllister, Sr., of 206 West Weaver Street, has been selected to the 1980-81 edition of Who's Who among American High School Students. The 1980 Membership Registry, published in November by Rand McNally & Company, recognizes her superior scholarship, leadership, and community activities at Hillside High School where, she is a senior. At Hillside, Miss McAllister is a member of the Mar ching and Symphonic Bands, National Honor Society, and the Human Relations Committee. Flower girls were Aisha Hunter and Tuwanna Hunter, cousins of the bride of, Chapel Hill. Musicians were Dr. Per milla Dunston, organist; Winfred Marecheau and John C. Thomas, violinists. Bridesmaids couture was by Mrs. Jimmie Lee Hunter, aunt of the bride, of Chapel Hill. The wed ding was directed by Miss Louise Smith. Following a wedding trip to Florida, the couple will live in Winston-Salem. Friendly Ladies Meet The Friendly Ladies held their December meeting at the home of Mrs. Mattie Tillman for Christmas Dinner. Mesdames Betty Green, Margie Bullard, Myrtle Weeks, Almena Hinton and Dwyane Lassiter were co-hostesses. Mrs. Agnes Hinton was in charge of the entertain ment carols were sung, two poems were read, and games were played all to the delight and pleasure of those present. Mrs. Hannah Roberson was in charge of the Christmas Servings and Mrs. Mary Hayes, Mrs. Agnes Hinton and Mrs. Evangeline Page played Santa Claus. Mrs. Tucker Hostess To Garden Club Better Homes and Gardens Club met at the home of Gardener Rose Tucker on Fayetteville Road recently. The Garden Gate was opened by devotional leader, Mrs. Magnolia Eings. The business session was conducted by President Ella Brown. Mrs. Beulah Hill reported on a trip to Dillon School which included entertaining and demonstrating planting to the residents who expressed their extreme appreciation. Mrs. Brown reported on the Council meeting which was hosted by the Better Homes and Gardens Club. Mrs. Helen Brown and Mrs. Catherine Page gave the treasurer's report. The club members discussed participation in the an nual Christmas Show; a Christmas party on December 17 and a December 27 brunch. Mrs. Thomasenia Shaw was birthday honoree. Santa Claus visited the club in the form of exchanging of gifts. Mrs. Brown played Santa. Following a delicious repast, Mrs. Floyd thanked the hostess. Members attending were: Gardeners Helen Brown, Ella Floyd, Ella Brown, Mable Bryant, Beulah Hill, Frances Watson, Magnolia Eings, Cindy Rankin, Lenora Hooker, Catherine Page, Gladys Dawkins, Thomasenia Shaw, Rose Tucker, and Carrie Vereen. Ebenezer Floral Club The Floral Club of Ebenezer Baptist Church met in the Conference Room of the church last Sunday after noon with Mrs. Mary Eatmon leading the devotion and prayer by Mrs. Ha Mae Evans. The reelection of the present officers for another year was unanimous. Mrs. Lilhe .Mcjntyre submitted the 'financial results- of the BiiThmghT Supper held in November. A suggestion was made to begin making plans for a trip in the early summer. Mrs. Louise Smith will investigate and report to the club.
