SAT., JANUARY 10, 1881 (Clubs Mmd Socmh Yshma Social Club The month of December has been a very busy one for membersbf the Yahama Social Club. Several members of the Club entertained the mem ben and their guests with Christmas get-togethers and parties throughout the season. The following members had parties in their homes for members of the Club and their guests: Mrs. Elizabeth Pretty, Mrs. Pearl Haskins, Mrs. Ruth Choate, Mrs. Pauline Throckmorton, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Edwards, Mr. and Mrs. James Johnson and Mrs. Gwendella Clemons. On December 26, the Club's Christmas Disco was held at the Bull City Elk's Lodge and immediately after the Disco, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Cole entertained the members and their guests by serving breakfast. . On December 31, the Club had its annual Christmas New Year's party at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Velton Thompson. Secret pal gifts were exchanged. The Club also visited and caroled at a local rest home on December 21 and distributed fruit baskets to several sick and shut-in persons throughout the Durham com munity. The next regular Club meeting will be held at the home of Mrs. Pearl Haskins on January 25. i Nacirema Holds Party The YWCA Nacirema Club held it Christmas Party at the Downtowner on Friday, January 2. After dinner, Mrs. Marion Hoskins played Santa to the following visitors and members: Napoleon Blakeney, Rochelle Hawkins, Luella King, Frank Mc Crea, Larry Oliver, Fannie Harris, Dorothy Bakeney, Gertrude Gibson, Francis Owens, CelesUne Cunn ingham, Marion Hoskins, Lois Cozart and Nellie Mc-Crea. Fayetteville Happenings By Mrs. TM. Kinney vara T- ' Fayetteville's first baby of 1981 was born at Cape Fear Valley Hospital. Its a six pound, seven ounce girl. Her parents are Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Phillips of 6504 Schaffer Place. All returned to work and to school on Monday past. All of the places will be open on a regular basis now. , Registration for the Spring semester at the Shaw University branch will be held January 8 from 6-8 pan. for new and returning students at the branch center, 2215 Murchison Road. Classes begin on Jan. 14 and conclude May 8. Smith High School has been named one of 1980's "Outstanding Young Women of America" by the pro- gram bearing that name, Ms. Jacqueline Williams Harney is a federal employee in Washington, D.C., who lives in McLean, Va. - Pastor John Hedgepeth preached the sermons "Fear of the future-How Can You Overcome It?" at 1 1 a.m. and at 7 p.m., "God Is Moving-Let's Move With Him." The Allisons traveled to Atlanta for the holidays. The Roberts had a trip to and from Kentucky. '- The Frye Family went to Virginia Beach, Va. -.'.,.. ''. .
