The Durham community is indebted to the operating staff of the club, both past and present and to the following executive directors: the late John E. Payne, 1940-43; Donald Watson, 1943-September 1, 1945; Lee W. Smith, Jr., September 1, 1945 - pre sent. Smith has achieved national recognition as a Professional Boys Club Worker and is a member of the Boys' Club Professional Association. . ... .
