The Gleaners Qub met Sunday; April 1 2, at the home
f Mrs. Kitty Ola Curtis, 1 1 1 Oakmont Circle.
After an inspiring devotion, Mrs. Lula Royal called
the meeting to order for a business session. Plans' were
discussed concerning the sale of dinners on Sunday,
April 26.
Following the meeting, Mrs. Curtis served a delicious
meal.
Members present were: Lula Mae Royal, Sarah
McNeill, Hannah Hamm, Hattie McClain, James
Smarr, Margaret Allen, Kitty Curtis, Dorothy, Marilyn
McNeil, Patricia Mercer, Frank Williams,, Madison
McDonald, Willie Sherrill, Annie Williams, Lucinda
Harris and Fleur Steele.
Mrs. Sara McNeil thanked the hostess.

Experts are saying that "stress" is today's buzz word.
You see and hear it in the most unlikely ways
"stress". Their advice is "Try to relax."

Hope all of you will try to hear Dr. O.A. Dupree,
sometime in the immediate future, tell you the story of
"The Disturbed Man." It will be worth your time and
effort. Dr. Dupree was Men's Day speaker at the 11th
hour Sunday at St. Luke African Methodist Episcopal
Church. Theme, "Men In Today's Church."
The afternoon program was held at 4 o'clock and
Mitchel E. Gadsden served as chairman for the commit
tee. Feast and fellowship were enjoyed by all who at
tended. Holy Week Services are scheduled all week long
at 7:30 p.m.
Lee Boughman of E.E. Smith High School has been
elected president of the Fayetteville-Cumberland Coun
ty Youth Council for 1981-82. Mike Jackson, also of
E.E. Smith, has been elected vice president. All new of
ficers will be inducted at the group's annual awards ban
quet on May 6 in Green Valley Country Club.
You can see and enjoy the "Miss United Teenage
Pageant" in the county auditorium, April 18, at 7:30
p.m.
You can also enjoy the "Indian Cultural Festival" in
the arena, 5-1 1 p.m., Friday and Saturday, noon til
midnight, April 24-25.
Mrs. Kinney enjoyed the company of Mmes. Baker, 1
Lane, Walker, Hill, McLean, Webb, Page, Simmons, .
Shaw and Wilkerson during the weekend. I
Dr. C.R. Edwards, pastor of First Baptist Church,
was presented a plaque in appreciation for his ac
complishments for the school system. Dr. Edwards serv
ed the schools for some eighteen years. Mrs. Mary
Eldridge presented the plaque.
Several groups went to see, hear and enjoy "Green
Pastures" at the Fort Bragg Playhouse.
Experts are asking all who ride bicycles to follow the
safety rules carefully.

Trade Fair.
Pollution, wildlife energy, hazardous substances and '
citizen action will be discussed at the Environmental
Conference '81 at the Rowan Street Youth Center.

A new degree in political science with a public ad
ministration track has been established at Fayetteville
State University. This degree, which results in a B.S., re
quires 124 hours, with 33 in public administration and
15 in political science. The program is offered at the
University's main campus, Fort Bragg and the Weekend
and Evening Colleges. The admissions office at
486-1371 or the political science department at 486-1247
can give more details. . ,
Sewing and Band classes will soon begin at J.S.
Spivey Recreation Center. Call 483-5971 Or 483-1762.
If interested in participating in the International Folk
Festival, meet Thursday at 7:30 p.m. at the Hellenic
