Rosemary, will celebrate its 1 16th Church An aivcjsary, Monday, April 27 through Sunday, May 3. Services will begin at 7:30 p.m each evening. There will be a memorial event each evening, featur ing an accomplishment that each minister accomplished while serving the church since its beginning, 1865-1981. The ministers that served were the Reverends Cole, Mit chell. Hackney, Standford and Dr. J. R. Manley. -On Sunday, May 3 at 11 a.m.. Dr. Standford of Newark, N. J., will deliver the Anniversary Sermon. As l;climax to these celebrations, there is a Groundbreak ing Ceremony at 1 p.m. at which time. Dr. J. R. Manley, pastor, Robert Drakeford, Mayor of Carr boro, and Joseph Nassif, Mayor of Chapel Hill, will br ing greetings. Dinner will be served. The Church Svhool will present Twelve Gales to the City at 7 p.m. :Z The history of the Church dates back to the close of the Civil War. Since this period, five ministers have Served the Church. The Church has been a supportive agency to the Chapel Hill-Carrboro community, educa tionally and politically. The Church has given to the Chapel Hill-Carrboro School Board its first black member and to the Board of Aldermen its first member. iThe CHurch has had social programs, extending from Day Care to Senior Citizens. ? Dr. J. R. Manley, pastor, presently serves as presi dent of the General Baptist State Convention of North Carolina, the largest black organization in the state.
