Sessions will be devoted to methodology, cartographic records, land records, , mar riage records, tax records, cen sus records and court records, according to Dr. Thornton W. Mitchell, state archivist. In addition a session will be devoted to "personal actions" such as naturalization, divorce, name change and private petitions in state and county records. Staff for the institute will in clude members of the profes sional staff of the Division of Archives and History, but some sessions will be con ducted by specialists who are not connected with the Ar chives. Time will be available each day for individual research as well as for workshop periods. Certificates will be awarded to participants, and 2.5 Continu ing Education Units will be available from Meredith Col lege. Institute admission is open to the general public but previous experience in the use of archival resource material is essential, according to Dr. Mitchell. Enrollment is limited to 30. The Turns On The Heat campaign also includes extensive advertising support. The contest, which began March 16, ends April 27. All five alubms included in the Turns On The Heat pro motion are currently major national R&B and pop chart successes.
