Miss Ola Bass has returned to Durham after having
spent several days with her sister (the former Miss
Eunice Bass) and family, Mr. and Mrs. Jimmy Gist, in

Mrs. Jessie Turrentine spent Easter weekend with her
children in the Capitol City.

Mr. and Mrs. Harry Wingfield and son, Darius, of
Greensboro, accompanied by her sister, Mrs. Virginia
Kenion of Durham, visited their son, Dexter Wingfield
and her granddaughter and grandson, Inga and Jeffrey,
at East Carolina University, Greenville, over the
weekend.
Attorney and Mrs. Elvis Lewis, Jr., and-sons Elvis III

"express the deep concern
over recent murders" of
the 25- black children in
Atlanta, Georgia. , '
The resolution states
that these murders have
caused "citizens
throughout the United:
States to become extreme
ly concerned for the well
being of the children of
Atlanta. Although the
state and local police and
law enforcement agencies,!
concerned citizens and,
I volunteers have made a!
concerted effort to ap-';
prehend the criminal or;
criminals, solving the;
crime does not yet seem;
imminent."
Section 1 of the resolu-:
tion calls upon members;
of the General Assembly,
'to express thier concern
over the murders.
Section 2 of the resolu-1

provide any assistance at:

Blood Pressure Screening
Campaign during the
month of May, which is

Month.
The Delta's will be in
South Square Mall on the
lower level Friday and
Saturday May 1 & 2, in an
effort to educate the
public in the detection,
treatment, and control of
hypertension-The Quiet
Killer.
. The screening booth
will operate from Noon
intil 9 p.m. Friday May
st and 10 a.m. until 9
p.m. Saturday May 2nd.
The public is invited to
come by the booth and
have their blood pressure
taken and receive tips on
how to control high blood
pressure.
Ms. Armstrong
Named To Health
Council By Gov.
Governor recently nam
ed Ms. Elaine P. Arm
strong to the N. C. Health
Coordinating Council.
Ms. Armstrong is the
branch head of the Group
Care Facilities Section in
the N. C. division of
Facility Services. She is a
member of the Capital
Health Systems Agency
Board, and the National
Association of Black
Social Workers.
Ms. Armstrong will
represent Health systems
Agency IV on the council
and will serve a three year
term.
The council is a federal
ly authorized health board
that helps determine
health care priorities in
North Carolina. It con

met the definition of a disnlaeed homemaker a.

Ms. Groom and Ms. Moore, residents of Warren and "

continued success in the 81-82 program year with the !
opening of a new corporation, Choices, Inc.,' of Region

format, with expansion of the present service base to

Over thirty of the Center's former students are now
working in areas such as health, manufacturing, social .

The Center, located at 139 College Street, stresses
self-analysis and career motivation services to women
residing in the counties of Frnaklin, Vance, Warren and '
Granville, applications are now being accepted for the
program's Spring and Summer quarters.
