Spaulding in troduced a joint resolution Friday4 April 17, in the General Assembly to "express the deep concern over recent murders" of the 25- black children in Atlanta, Georgia. , ' The resolution states that these murders have caused "citizens throughout the United: States to become extreme ly concerned for the well being of the children of Atlanta. Although the state and local police and law enforcement agencies,! concerned citizens and, I volunteers have made a! concerted effort to ap-'; prehend the criminal or; criminals, solving the; crime does not yet seem; imminent." Section 1 of the resolu-: tion calls upon members; of the General Assembly, 'to express thier concern over the murders. Section 2 of the resolu-1 tion requests the General Assemblyto call upon! fGov. Hunt to "offer and' provide any assistance at: : his disposal to the officials' in charge of the investiga-f tion of the murders. ! Section 3 of the resolu-j tion requests the General! Blood Pressure Screening The Durham Ahimnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta sorority, Inc., (a public service orgrniza tion) will sponsor a High Blood Pressure Screening Campaign during the month of May, which is High Blood Pressure Month. The Delta's will be in South Square Mall on the lower level Friday and Saturday May 1 & 2, in an effort to educate the public in the detection, treatment, and control of hypertension-The Quiet Killer. . The screening booth will operate from Noon intil 9 p.m. Friday May st and 10 a.m. until 9 p.m. Saturday May 2nd. The public is invited to come by the booth and have their blood pressure taken and receive tips on how to control high blood pressure. Ms. Armstrong Named To Health Council By Gov. Governor recently nam ed Ms. Elaine P. Arm strong to the N. C. Health Coordinating Council. Ms. Armstrong is the branch head of the Group Care Facilities Section in the N. C. division of Facility Services. She is a member of the Capital Health Systems Agency Board, and the National Association of Black Social Workers. Ms. Armstrong will represent Health systems Agency IV on the council and will serve a three year term. The council is a federal ly authorized health board that helps determine health care priorities in North Carolina.
