FARMERS MARKET will begin operation on
June 20 at Park wood School parking lot on Cler
mont Road in southern Durham County. Market
will be open Saturday mornings, 9-12, rain or shine.
Buyer and sellers are welcome. No fees charged.
Vegetables, fruit plants, and baked goods will be
on sale.

. FISHING RODEO A morning of free fishing
fun is planned for area youth during the Coun
tywide Fishing Rodeo planned for Saturday, June
6, 10 a.m.-l p.m. The annual event is sponsored
jointly by the Carrboro Recreation and Parks
Department, Orange County Soil and Water Con
servation Office, Orange County Recreation
Department and Orange County 4-H.
Youth ages 2-14 are invited to participate. Those
under age 8 must be accompanied by a parent.
The rodeo will be held at Bob Strayhorn's pond
on New Hope Church Road (off Highway 86) bet
ween Chapel Hill and Hillsborough. Directional
signs, will be posted along Highway 86 on the day of
the event.
Fishing will begin at 10 a.m. and will end with a
hot dog lunch at noon. Cane poles and worms will
be provided and prizes will be awarded in various
categories. Rain date for the event will be Saturday,
June 13.

SUMMER & FALL SCHOOL REGISTRATION
Applications for children, ages 3-5, are now be
ing accepted for the summer and fall terms at Scar
borough Nursery School, 309 Queen Street. The
school operates 6:30 a.m. -6 p.m., Monday through
Friday, year round.
Children, ages 6-10, will be accepted for the sum
mer school program, 8 a.m.-4 p.m., Monday
through Friday. Arts, crafts, games, swimming,
outdoor activities, field trips, and nutritious meals
will be offered.
A child whose birthday falls after October 16 will
be accepted and will be eligible for promotion to the
second grade when entering public school the
following year.

COMMUNITY DANCE THEATRE, with
students from the Dancers Studio, will present a
free dance concert Saturday, June 6, 7 p.m., at the
Carrboro Elementary School.
Of special interest to children and the .young at
heart will be a Fairy Tale ballet about six young
princesses and the wicked witches who try to steal
their youth. Cast includes children and adults.
Also on program is "So Cool" a jazz dance to
music by Dave Brubeck, "Four by Seven" a
modern ballet set to music of Igor Stravinsky, and
"Pas De Trois" to music by John Selleck, a com
poser living in Winston-Salem.

DAISY AUTOMATIC SCHEDULE DAISY
is a 24 hour telephonetape service provided by
Durham Technical Institute. During the hours 1-9
,p.m. Monday-Thursday and 1-5 p.m. on Friday,
any tape in the DAISY program is available by call
ing the DAISY Operator at 596-0611. When the
; DAISY Operator is not on duty, ten tapes are
available. Dial the phone number listed and the tape
will play automatically.
