Entries to the 275 possible classes of the 23 Hor
ticultural Section divisions commanded the clpse atten
tion of the judges who awarded blue, red, and yellow
and white ribbons to successful competitors in each
classification;
The Rose Show was sponsored by the Chapel Hill
Rose Society, with the assistance of the Carrboro and
Chapel Hill Garden Clubs, the Chapel Hill Men's
Garden Club, and the staff of the University Mall.
-Thrifty Service Club Meets
s The Thrifty Service Club met May 23 at the home of
Mrs. Luna Holman to celebrate her and Mrs. Marie
Harris' birthdays.
The president, Mrs. Aline Davis,' presided. The
meeting .was opened ; with devotion led by Mrs.
Genevieve Rogers. Mrs. Queen Cooper gave a reading,
"Love is Remembering", followed by Bible verses and

Mrs. Mary Vanhook gave the club report on trips
planned in August. Mrs. Elizabeth reported on a picnic
'planned by the club in July. 'r
