First Aid Ushers Meet
The First Aid Department of the Durham Ushers
Union met recently at St. Joseph's AME Church. Dcvo-tions-wcre
led by Mrs. Hastie Price, the meeting was
conducted by Mrsl. Susie Craig, and, reports were
received from all committees. A delicious repast was

The next meeting will be at Mount Gilead BaptBt
Church on June 30 at 7 p.m. All members are urged to
attend.

Up-To-Date Galeda Club met at the home of Ms.
Helen Blair and Ms. Lottie Key1 on Sunday June 14.'
After a short devotion led by Ms. Marie Harris, new
members, Ms. Queenie Horn and Ms. Virginia Thomas,
Thrifty Service Club ,
The Thrifty Service Club met at the home of Mrs.
Ozell Flowers on June 13 in celebration of her birthday, ,
along with that of Mrs. Laura Thorpe.
Mrs. Beatrice Holeman, vice president, conducted the
meeting in. the absence of the president. Mrs. Geneva
Rogers led the devotion'. Plans were made for the an
nual picnic at Duke Park on July 18, 4-6 p.m.. Each
member is to bring a picnic basket. The club is also
working on a project to furnish clothing and cosmetics
for some patients in BCU unit at Butner. Club members
will worship at Mount Vernon Baptist Church on Sun-

Daughters Of Isis
Hold Thanksgiving Feast
Zafa Court No. 41, Daughters of Isis, celebrated its
annual Thanksgiving Feast of Isis, Sunday, May 17.
The II a.m. morning worship service was with the
Gethsemane Baptist Church.
Immediately following this service, the daughters and
nobtefc-gssembled at Zafa. Temple for dinner, catered by
Dts.'Gracie Jones Rogers and Mary Thomas.
Program participants were: Dts. Martha C. Devone,
Pearl George, Mary C. Adams, Bea Burnette, Minerva
T. Fields, Illustrious Commandress Rebecca Peterson;
Illustrious Potentate J X Tucker, and Zafa Court No.
41 Chantresses.
Plans for the annual Labor Day Outing were discussed
and tabled until the next meeting. '
