Talented Teens from seven countries and 35 states are expected to gather in New York August 1-8, joining with celebrities and VIP New Yorkers to celebrate their talents and their hopes for careers in show business. Hat Jackson, founder and director of Talented Teens. International reminisced thatj in the past ten years most or the Talented Teens, the winners- and runners up, have become achievers in their professional lives. So have the celebrities who took an interest in the pageant and participated in the finals festivities: Tony Brown, Julian Bond, Kevin Hooks, Don Cornelius, Michael Jackson, Stevie Wonder, the Sylvers. x The concept for Talented Teens International grew out of a vision developed by Hat Jackson, a broadcast pioneer' who numbers among his. life experience a number of "firsts" from his initial ap pearance as the first blacfc host of an integrated net work program, NBC's "Frontiers of Faith", to his . present role as vice chairman rof Inner City Broadcasting Corporation, owners of seven radio stations across the country, including the flagship station in New York, WBLS-FM. ' Jackson has remained a prime advocate of those who believe that young people must combine innovative achievement with social responsibility, as he has all of his life.
