Taking
A Break
1 Songwriterproducer percussionist Ralph MacDonald takes a break with
Grover Washington Jr. after rehearsals for their recent appearance on the
Tomorrow Show, where host Tom Snyder presented both stars with platinum
LP's for their current smash album, Winelight. The album, which was co
produced by Ralph MacDonald and Grover Washington, has just set a record as
the longest-running number one album in the history of BILLBOARD'S jazz
charts. Along with his songwriting partner Bill Slater, MacDonald also wrote
Winelight's top two pop single "Just The Two Of Us." What's next for the
master percussionist? A solo album on the Epic label entitled Star Quality is set
for July.

by men of many continent. Black men, too, have been among those who built, the nation,
forged its destiny in peace, and defended its interests in war. They began serving America
long before the nation had come into being and they have fought long and honorably in
every major American , conflict. -The
Revolutionary War (1775-1761)
Crispin Attacks was one of the first martyrs to American Independence. Every major
battle during the War included Negroes in its troops ' Peter Salem and Salem Poor were
