Cofege Weiv DsWcf Celebrates 25th Anniversary College View District of White Rock Baptist Church gave an anniversary banquet dinner in honor of its former leaders at a local motel recently. Allvfthe former leaders Mrs'. Minnie H. Cromar- tie, Mrs. Madge W. Turner, Mrs. Minnie T. Davis, Mrs. , Anna'S. Thornton and Mrs. Virgie J. Davis were pre-. i sent. Each was pinned with a corsage by Mrs. Charmin Watson, chairman, Benevolence Committee. As guests entered the banquet room, .they were greated by D.E. Watson, chairman, Banquet Commit tee, and seated by Clyde Moore, Jr., a committee member. Blue and white linen and lighted candles, with an arrangement of white roses at the speakers' table, decorated the tables. . The program, presided over by Mrs. Lyda R. Betts, consisted of a welcome by Mrs. Winnie C. Martin, 4he -district's present leader; introduction of honorees and head table, and a brief history of College View District by the presiding officer; and, Invocation by Samuel L'. Jordan, Big Brother of CVD. After dinner, the program continued with recognition of CVD members and guests; introduction of the. ' speaker by N.B. White, Big Brother CVD; speaker, Dr.l Charles A. Ray, retired chairman, English Department, NCCU, and immediate past superintendent of the' White Rock Baptist Church Sunday School. His topic,! "Mending The Fence", centered around the making of' good neighborhood. He challenged all to become good neighbors by positive involvement in our neighborhoods, and by developing a tolerance and understanding of not only those in our immediate sur roundings, but to practice the same principles with a commitment and concern for others far beyond these bounds. D.E. Watson presented awards. Each former leader, received a certificate in appreciation of the leadership she provided. Mrs. Ruth W. Spaulding was pinned with corsage, by her son, Alex Spaulding, and awarded a certificate of distinction as the eldest of the district members and for sustained activity in the district. N.B. White, who assisted in the original organization of College View District, was presented a plaque in ap preciation of his continued dedicated service to the ' district. The closing remarks and Benediction were given by The Reverend Lorenzo A. Lynch, pastor, White Rock Baptist Church. One hundred six individuals, including members from other districts of the church, relatives of the honorees, other friends and invited guests, joined in the fellowship and celebration of the occasion.
