J'-- ' ....; , a-. , V if . tv - V : ' In New Orleans " ' i Several members of Boyd & Hodge Court No. 7, Heroines of Jericho, PHA, Durham, attended the General Grand Conference which was held July 3-7 in New Orleans. They were: Heroines Olinzie Johnson, Annie C. Gore, Geneva Redding, Grand Most Ancient Matron, Companion Charles Redding, Grand Most Worthy Joshua. Attending from Charlotte were Heroines Rosa In gram, Grand Treasurer, Emma Dunlap, Grand Secretary and Ruth Foreman, Past Most Ancient Grand Matron and several of their members. ' Heroine Olinzie Johnson was N.C. State Queen Representative, escorted by the Grand High Priest Aaron Lightner of High Point. Community Cookout For Teens The Forestview Heights Community Club hosted a" cookout for its teenagers on Saturday, July 11, at the park in Forestview Heights. A variety of food was enjoyed by the teenagers and '.the adults assisting. Adults assisting were: Mrs. Helen Jones, president; Mrs. Catherine Brown, Mrs. Louise Gooche, Mrs. Emily Price and Ms. Dorothy Graham. ' A cookout for the youths of Forestview Heights up to twelve years is scheduled for August 1. r . -I ' . . - s ' v H & A Family Club ; I Mr. and Mrs. Roland Alston, Sr., 2900 Fayettevflle St., will host the H & A Atwater Family Club Saturday, . . July 18, at 7:30 p.m. Plans for the first famfly reunion will be discussed. Each member is asked to bring a black i- and white picture old or current for the July meeting. 1 Bridge Club Winners 'y- College View Duplicate Bridge Club winners for July '9 were: First place-Mrs. Virgie Davis and Mrs. Con stance Pattillo, second place-Mr. and Mrs. Curtis Nor ris, third place-Doug Kemnitz and Ms. Mary Duncan, fourth place-Ms. Dorothy Mewborn and Fred McNeill. The College View Duplicate Club will play Friday, JuIy 17. Williams Family Circle ; The Williams Family Circle Club held its July 2 mon l thly meeting at the home of Mr. and Mrs. James L. Horton of Route 3 Durham on Thursday evening for the annual cookout. Plans were made for twoirips next year: to Chicago for the Fourth of July and Baltimore for Labor Day. A "birthday social" is also being planned for this year in October. There will be no meeting of the group in August. The September meeting will b held at the home of it . More than 300 persons are ex pected to participate in the biennial convention of Guys and Dolls, Inc.J a national family organization, July 23-26. Chapters from Greensboro, Durham, Raleigh, Wilm ington, Charlotte, High Point, Fayetteville, South Carolina, Virginia, Indiana and Georgia will join in the program in the Holiday Inn Four Seasons in f Greensboro. V Guys and Dolls, Inc., reportedly the only organiza tion in the nation to which all members of the family belong, was founded in Greensboro in 1965 by Mrs. Eula K. Vereen, an assistant professor of home economics at A&T State University. ; She will play a key, role in the convention, or Kar-i rousel, and will be joined by Ed Butler of Spartanburg, S.C., national president, and Mrs. Delores Hill of Charlotte, national program chairman. Williams presented her Studio pupils and friends at the Mount Calvary . United Church 6f Christ, Rev. J.C. Cheek, pastor. 1 Mrs. Poole, Mrs Torain and Mrs. Wigfall served graciously as narrators. The pupils parents served as chaperons. Mrs.' Williams assisted adults and pupils at the piano or organ. The people in the audience were thrilled after each rendition, solos, duets and trios. Mrs. Williams received many congratulations. Certificates and Awards were given by Mrs, Williams and the parents of the children awarded Mrs. Williams with a music plaque.
