Daws Celebrate 50th Anniversary Mr. and Mrs. Eutrich D. Davis of 1714 South Alston AvenueY celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on , June 20. Rev. Lorenzo Lynch, minister of White Rock Baptist XSiurch,- officiated as the couple repeated their vows.' r Mr.-ghd Mrs. Davis were honored by their children: Ms. Patricia Davis, William Davis, Mrs. Icdean Payton, all of Durham; Mrs. Inez Anderson of Plain ville, New Jersey; Ms. Maria Davis, Mrs. Minnie Dixon, both of Brooklyn,. New York; Eutrich Davis, Jr., of Fayetteville; S. Jerome Davis of Atlanta, Georgia and Mrs. Lula Williams of Jacksonville, Florida. Out-of-town guests included relatives and friends fromWashington, D.C., Brooklyn, New York, El Paso, -T'exas, Winston-Salem, Atlanta, Georgia, -Roseboro, Rose Hill, Fayetteville, Jacksonville, Florida,' Baltimore, Maryland and Ben Salem, Penn sylvania. V Senior Citizens And Utopians Picnic Together On July 13, Senior Citizens at St. Titus', Utopians, and guests assembled at Mrs. Elnora smith's home on Nebo Street, with a. dual purpose: 1) to felicitate Mrs. Smith onher birthday, and 2) to enjoy the annual picnic on her beautiful lawn, . , . The lawn was never more beautiful. A tall tree in the center; of the lawn was girdled with a variety of calladium, interspearsed with a variety of blooming plants. . The entire lawn w.as similarly bordered. Smaller trees furnished sade. Small tables about the lawn, and a long buffet table in the center, completed the picture. A warm and beautiful birthday greeting for Mrs. Smith Was read. Then there was fun for all. Twelve per sons drew the lucky numbers for little prizes. . Cited for special services to the Senior Citizens were Mrs, Bessie Doby, Mr., and Mrs. Charles Campbell, Mrs. Azzie Lee Parker and Mr. and Mrs. George White. Mrs. Smith received many cards, gifts, kisses and good wishes. Enjoying the food, fun and fellowship were Miss lola Allen; Mesdames Ada Alston, Marion Alston, Mattie Canty, Sadie Carry, Willa Coward, Bessie Doby, Ger trude Gibson, Dovey Grady, Julia Harris, Lucinda Har ris. '. taut'- -; .": ' r P radical Nurses Observe v 32nd Anniversary The LPN Class of 1949 held its 32nd anniversary Sun- day, June 28. The activities of the day included morning worship, at North Side Church, of which Mrs. Gamaliel Pretty, jone of the nurses, is a member; an outdoor gathering and dinner on the flower-surrounded lawn of D. Edward. Watson on Ridgeway Avenue. Several guests joined the nurses in the celebration. ; The classmates present were: Mmes. Ora Bryant, Sarah Pugh, Gamaliel Pretty, Catherine Cameron, Juanita Simms, Lucretia McCoy, Qydie Strickland, Elizabeth Jones, Charmin Watson and Grizzelle Stone. Gleaner Club Meets On July 19, Mrs. Effie Hill, Mrs. Sarah McNeill and Mrs. Myrtle McNeil were hostesses for the meeting of . the Gleaner Club of St. Mark AME TXon Church. . Mrs. Florence Cooper led the devotion, after which . the president, Mrs. Lula M. Royal, presided over the business session. All reports were read and approved by ' the members. Mrs. McCau ley Given Surprise Birthday Dinner : Mrs. Ruby McCauley Adams arrived in Durham recently to visit her mother, Mrs. Purina McCauley oft 1013 East Club Boulevard. Mrs. Adams had planned a surprise birthday dinner for her mother at the Saddle and Fox Restaurant on Hillsborough Road, which was acclaimed a beautiful occasion by those, attending. ' Mrs, Adams is presently living in Maitland, Florida with her husband, Rev; Preston Adams, Jr., and their two daughters, Rina and Tasha. She is employed with the Orange County (Fla.)
