New Exterior Wood Finish . . .
Seals, Waterproofs, And Beautifies
Log Homes With One Application
A high solids protective finish that s especially effec
tive in keeping exterior log home woods "alive" has
recently been introduced. The new finish not only seals
and waterproofs the logs, but actually enhances or re
stores their natural beauty.
Hie product, manufactured by The Blood Company,
is being marketed as CWF Clear Wood Finish, and un
like other exterior finishes, it will penetrate the logs to
provide a rugged, durable seal against the elements.
Applied properly, it retards swelling, shrinking, warping,
and splitting. Because it penetrates, it will not crack,
chip or peel like varnish, nor will it hide the natural
beauty of the logs as stains do.
The product can be used on smooth peeled or rough
cut logs, as well as on cedar shakes and redwood decks.
It works equally well on old, new, rough sawn, planed or
pressure treated wood. With exposure to sunlight, it will
produce a uniform honey to brown color which enhances
new wood and restores the natural beauty of weathered
wood.
New logs should be allowed to weather 6 months to
1 year. The CWF can then be applied in two weton-wet
coats by brush, roller, airless or garden sprayer.
The product will leave a rich matte finish. This color
will lighten within the first few months depending on Bun
intensity. Even though the wood eventually may appear
very light, it looks natural and is still protected. When
a light gray develops, it is time to recoat to renew pro
tection and color. This long weathering cycle will then
start again.
