Friendly Circle Club
The Friendly Circle Club of St. Mark AME Zion
Church held its monthly meeting with Mrs. Juanita
Barnes, on Red Oak Avenue. Devotions were con
ducted by the president, Mrs. Helen McNeil.
Members present were Mmes. Louise Frazier, Hat
tie Geer, Len Jones, Mildred Woody, Lena Thomp
son, Dazel Stevens, Sarah Cameron, Juanita Barnes,
and Margaret Bumpass.
The hostess served a delicious dinner and Mrs.
McNeil thanked her for a most enjoyable evening.
The next meeting date will be announced later.

Thressa Hunter Fez Club
Holds Shindig
On Saturday night, August 15, the Thressa Hunter
Fez Club members held their annual County-Style
Farmers Shindig at the Bull City Elk Auditorium on
South Alston Avenue. Music was furnished by the
Disco Kid and J.B.
The King and Queen Contest was also held. First
runner up was Dt. Ann Norwood; second, Dt. Ethel
Hopkins; and the winner for 1981-82, Dt. Mary M.
Davis. In first runner-up place for King was Melvin
Parker; second, Lebbie Bumpass. Winner was
Robert Collier.
