(I Gardeners Have Picnic Dinner-Birthday Celebration Mr. and Mrs. Bennett Family Pays Tribute To Mr. and Mrs. John Bennett On August 30, Mr. and Mrs. John Bennett of Raleigh, were honored by the Bennett Family for the many services and deeds of kindness rendered to their family and friends. The setting for the occa sion was the home of Calvin and Catherine Hem ingway in Durham. Mr. and Mrs. Bennett were presented gifts, a pla que and a money tree. Other activities included a prayer, scripture, songs, a piano solo, poems, dances, dramatizations and personal tributes by members and friends of the Bennett Family. A delicious meal was served. Those in attendance were Thomas and Doris Ben nett and. their sons, Thomas and Warren; Jessie Henry of Raleigh; Elizabeth Boswell and Lydia Bennett of Wadesboro; Cora Tillman arid Carrie T. Dublin of Washington, D.C.; Mary B. Patterson of Rockingham; Charles and Willie Bennett and their sons, Charles, Gary and Ronnie of Fayetteville; James and Frances Springer, Emma Marable, Gwendolyn Rinehart, Sherri Rinehart, Leonard and Clintonia Stewart, Annie Lee Ashford and Clarice Wilkinson of Durham. John and Beatrice Bennett's children who could not attend called to congratulate them during the occasion. Leonard and Mary Sturdivant of Wadesboro could not attend but sent their best wishes. The honorees were later presented a photo album with scenes commemorating the occasion. Friendly Ladies Meet The Friendly Ladies met Sunday, September 6, at the home of Mrs. Lennie Rose, with Mmes. Evangeline Page, Ernestine Fikes, Gloria J. Council and Master tennis E. Council as co-hosts. The meeting was presided over by Mrs. Hastie Price. Rev. and Mrs. McArthur Clements were guests. Following the business session, a delightful repast was served to the following: Rev. and Mrs. Clements, Mmes. Hastie Price, Dewyane Lassiter, Gussie Ray, Ernestine Fikes, Susie Dilihunt, Mattie Tillman, Lina M. Saunders, Gloria J. Council, Minnie Petty, Ella Crawford, Mary Hayes, Evangeline Page, Betty Green, Myrtle Taylor, Len nie Rose and Lennis Council. The next meeting will be with Mrs. Edwards and Mrs. Thompson. White Rose Club Reopens , , The White Rose Circle Club reopened recently, following a short vacation, at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Alonzo Ervin on Massey Avenue. Mrs. Ervin led the devotion. The business session included making plans for the Anniversary. The hostess served a delicious dinner to those pre sent: Mmes. Lillie Brown, Eula Clegg, Edna Satter field, Maggie Thompson, Therlan Thompson and E.B. Flintall. Mrs. Flintall thanked the hostess for such a lovely evening. The next meeting will be on October 11.
