On September 4. Mrs. Artelia Bryant hosted the
meeting of the Daughters of Dorcas at her home on
Bernice Street. Mrs. Clumpertee Tucker, vice presi
dent, presided. The opening song, "Daughters of
Dorcas" was accompanied by Mrs. Lyda Merrick at
the piano.
Mrs. Bryant reported that Mrs. uazeua
Lipscomb continues to improve at the Hillhaven

her sister, Mrs. Fannie McLean, is now with her
there.
In a brief summary of the story of Ruth the
Moabite, it was pointed out' that Ruth was an'
ancestress of David and therefore of Jesus Christ.
Well received was a reading by Mrs. Julia Harris
of a group of original poems reflecting some ideas
and experiences from her early chiianooa to tne
present.
Following a recent ruling ot tne ciuo, Mrs.
Bryant served, instead of dinner, a most enjoyable
lunch. For this and all her hospitality, Mrs. Lucinda
Harris expressed the thanks of the group.
After the formal closing with the "Daughters ot
Dorcas Mizpah" written by Airs. Lipscomb, Mr.
Bryant came in with greetings from Mrs. Lipscomb.
He and Mrs. Merrick treated the group with piano
and organ selections.
Present were Mesdames Artelia Bryant, Lottie
Campbell, Sadie Carry, Elise Green, Julia Harris,
Lucinda Harris, Sallie Harris, Lillie Hudson, Ada
Leach, Margaret Mack, Lyda Merrick, Clumpertee

Can exercise ruin the health
of your hair?
Yes, indirectly. The damag
ing elements your hair is
exposed to while jogging,
swimming or working out
may rob your hair of its
bounce and sheen.
But don't use this as an
excuse to stop exercising!
Keep your hair in good
shape by following these
basic tips:
Sun can scorch hair in the
same way a curling iron can.
Jog in the early morning or
late afternoon. If you must
jog at mid-day, wear a pro
tective cap or scarf especially
if hair is blond or bleached.
Salt water and chlorine
can-strip hair of moisture,
leaving it dull and dry.
Swimmers need to cleanse
damaging elements from hair
right away rinsing with
clear water immediately, then
shampooing at home.
If you belong to a spa
or gym, make sure your
hair doesn't get a workout.
Keep hair wrapped in a towel
while you're in the sauna,
steam room or jacuzzi. This
will protect it from high
- temperatures and humidity
which leave hair weak and
frizzy.
Gently washing hair after
all forms of exercise will
help maintain your healthy
look.
