Highlights for Saturday -will include a dance featuring "Mellow Madness" from FayettcviUc. to which the public is invited. (Donation asked.) Pro ceeds from the dance will be donated to Bethune Cookman College. .Sunday's banquet sneaker will be Mrs. Thelma l.cnnon of the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction. The theme for the conference is "Discovery Through Shadows." Better Homes and Gardens Club The Better Homes and Gardens Club resumed meetings after summer vacation .at the home of Gardener Gladys Dawkins. After devotion by Leader Magnolia Eiiigs. with , Chaplain Frances Watson, a business session followed. Included in the session were reports of the recent Garden Clubs of Durham Council meeting whose agenda included Clean Project. Inc., new of ficers and board members. Program chairman lieu lull Hill reported on activities for the new year which were approved. First vice president Helen Brown reported on plans for a Council fund-raising project and displayed a plaque presented to her at the recent N.C. Federation of Garden Clubs con vention in Greensboro, which commended her generous and dedicated service to the club and the -Council, the Club acknowledge an invitation fc tin: Durham Council of Garden Clubs Flower Show t be held at South Square Mall October 8-9.
