White Officials By Silas May field One would think that in this day and time, when a predominately black school plays a predominately white school the officials of the game would call the game fah Not so.1 ; . . ,? , ' - , . : In the game between Hillside and Northern Fri day night, Northern kicked the ball to Hillside after scoring a touchdown. The black official had blown the play dead. Hillside fumbled the ball and Nor thern recovered it. The white official overruled the black official giving the ball td Northern. Northern scored three plays later. That possession of the ball by Northern made a big difference in the outcome of the game. So we must ask these questions. Why is that when, a predominately black school plays a predominately white school, the head official is always white? Why there are more white officials calling the game than blacks? When there are four officials at a game,, three will be white and one black. And, why are so few black officials calling games?
