November Meeting La Petite Gardeners held their November meeting in the home of Mrs. Lda Smith on Bacon St. The home was beautiful with lovely fall flowers. Visit Orphanage On November 15, several members of Boyd and Hodge Court No. 7, Heroines of Jericho, PHA, went to Oxford to share in the fellowship with Superintendent Bryant, students and staff of the Central Orphanage. The presideni. Mrs. Otelia Stewart, presided. Sorors contributed food to provide a basket for a family in need at Thanksgiving. Other sorors will be ' inviting foreign students from North Carolina Cen tral University into their homes for Thanksgiving dinner. , The Country Squire Restaurant will be the setting for Rho's annual Christmas party on December 13. . Members and their guests are invited to attend. In observance of National Education Week. Mrs. Norma Royal, media specialist at Eno Valley 'Elementary School, presented an informal talk on 'the National Education Week theme, "Parents and Teachers: Partners in Our Children's Future." Mrs. Royal said, "Education is like a puzzle with missing parts. The missing parts are teachers, principals, administrative staff, parents, legislators, custo dians, cafeteria staff, etc. All of these parts are necessary for a well-rounded education." Mrs. Royal challenged the members of Rho Chapter to become one of the partners in the puzzle by making an investment in a school of their choice and becoming a school volunteer so that knowledge and skills can be shared with boys and girls. In Concert DeShazor's Alumni Parent Body of the National Beauty Culturists will sponsor the Celestial Choir of Mount Vernon Baptist Church in concert on Sun day. November 29, at 4 p.m.. at Mount Vernon. The public is invited to attend. LPNClassI The Licensed Practical Nurses Class Number I met Saturday, Nov. 14, at the home of Mrs. Sara Pugh. The meeting was opened with the vice presi dent. Mrs. Grizellc Stone, presiding. Rev. Mis. Juanita Simms led the devotions. Mrs. Catherine Cameron and Mrs. Olivia Vin cent were reported on the sick list. Mrs. Charmin Watson gave the treasurer's report. Mrs. Gamaliel Pretty showed beautiful pic tures of her recent trip to California, New Orleans and Canada. Discussion was held on the plans to visit the Sunshine Nursing Home on Nov.,21 where a Pre-Thanksgiving Party was sponsored for the pa tients. ; . Twenty-five patients at the Sunshine Nursing Home were served a delicious repast. Mrs. Stone thanked the hostess for letting the group come into her home and for serving a delicious repast . West Durham Blossom Garden Club On Tuesday evening, November 17. Mrs. Margaret Fuller hosted the West Durham Blossom Garden Club at her home on South RoxborQ. Street. The house was beautifully decorated carrying out the Thanksgiving motif. s v ; The Garden Gate was opened by Mrs. Mary Hor lon after which the president conducted the business session. During this session, committee reports were adopted; funds were collected to spon-. soi the club's queen in the drive to raise funds for ' the council; selection of a needy family to receive food brought in by the members; finalizing plans for a Christmas breakfast on Dec. 17 when "Secret Pals" will be revealed by gifts; finalizing plans for : "Holiday House" on Dec. 20; and Mrs Doris Red-. drick, Mrs. Daisy Gunn and Mrs. Gertrude Gibson demonstrated the making of unique and beautiful Christmas decorations which will be shown at the Christmas Show sponsored by La Petite Garden Club on December 6 at Henderson Towers on Duke 1 Street. .
